[Verizon] Giant Battery not lasting

Vin Propane

Newbie
Is anyone here using either the gorilla gadgets or seido 3800mah batt? I bought the gorilla gadgets one because the one I had for my DX worked so well and the stock battery was worthless on my nexus. I had to work a catering event yesterday so my phone was barely out of my pocket all day and it died after 8 hours.

I'm thinking I may have a faulty battery.

I am running BAMF paradigm with 4.04 radios and leankernel.

Either a faulty battery or something is going with your phone/app/etc...

Have you investigated and looked at your battery stats to see what might be going on?

Nothing seems to be out of the ordinary.. android os/system low. screen dominates the usage. i stopped running trillian which seemed to help a little but it is still draining way too fast. I feel as though I should easily be able to get through a day of heavy usage if it is truly 3800mah.

I usually got 14-16 hours with my seidio 3800. 4g off wifi 90 percent of the day, I still figured I would get more than that but I could deal with it, but 8 hours definitely sounds like a faulty battery

Sounds faulty to me.

I bought one of those 4000 mah chinese ones that is probably half made out of cardboard and can pull about 20h of light-to-moderate usage

Ok, here's an update, albeit a strange one.

On Tuesday I dropped my phone in the toilet. I'm extremely careful with electronics and i'm still in complete shock that this happened. I owned my DX for 20 months and never dropped it once. My GNex was 8 days old :( Fortunately, the rice trick acually works and worked perfectly on my device, resurrecting it from a watery grave. I am sure it is merely coincidence but even on buggy stock 4.0.2 the battery is now lasting like a champ.

Today is a wonderful day.

Hmm, my Dinc went through the wash, and while the rice trick resurrected it for a while, it slowly deteriorated into worthlessness. Also the battery life was horrible.

Its amazing how each episode of moisture intrusion affects a phone differently. One of these days someone is going to drop an Android phone into water, and it will become sentient.

Batterys sometimes have to be cycled a few times. I had a seidio and it took about 10 cycles to get anything worthwhile out of it. I think i used it in my thunderbolt but im not sure. I just know for my nexus im sticking with the stock extended and so far no complaints. I got enough chargers all over and portable batterys to solve the issue lol

Hmm funny you say that. My OG Gnex rode out a storm a couple weeks ago because I lost it (found it after I filed a claim with Asurion...go figure) and now has the best battery life I've ever seen on it.

I just got my Nexus this week along with a Hyperion 3800mah battery. I have been getting around 16 hours with moderate use on 3G only. The directions that came with the battery say to fully discharge 4 to 5 times for longest life. I've only had it 3 days, so far not too bad.
