Help 4G coverage question

This might not be the right place to ask this but....

I got a similar question...

I have noticed with my 4G that even if I am in an area with 4G service, my phone does not automatically switch to 4G mode.

There are times when I have to go to the notifications, tap the 4G notification, which takes me to the Connection setting and then my phone does a 'log-in' to the 4G service (says "Connecting to Sprint Service....Obtaining IP Address...Connected to Sprint)

Other times the phone automatically connects to the 4G service....

Anyone know the reason ?

Yeah you might wanna go to the Evo 3D or Sprint forum as this phone hasn't been released yet.

Please note...my question above is about my current EVO (the OG EVO)

I have never had 4G coverage so I really cant say for sure but it sounds like to me it could be towers that are being upgraded / having maintenance done to them. You could also try updating PRL and Profile see if they help.
 
Are you in the middle of the 4G coverage area or on the border? I live on the border of the coverage area so my 4G was hit or miss and wouldn't connect right away

Honestly, I am not sure, but I do know that the areas where I have to 'log-in' to the 4G service is in areas I visit or drive through frequent.

I understand that I might have to 'log-in' to a 4G tower in an area that I have never visited before or an area that I visit infrequently. What I don't understand is having to 'log-in' in areas I frequently visit.

Honestly, it is not major problem, just an annoyance.

I am just wondering the reason or if there is something I could do to avoid having to 'log-in' so frequently.

As for updating my PRL, I do actually do that on a fairly frequent basis.

I will, however, try it the next time my phone makes me 'log-in' to the 4G service.

Anyother ideas are most welcome
