Root Htc evo 3D ROMs

This is probably more of a developer question, but I am curious...

With the announcement of the HTC Evo V 4g for VMUSA, I'm trying to weigh my upgrade options from a Wildfire S.

Is it going to be a situation of (relatively) easy porting or adjustment of current Evo 3d ROMs, as it is basically a rebranded version of the same device?

If the ROMs and ports don't work 'out of the box' or come reasonably quickly I'm really not seeing the point in forking over $300 on day one of release.

I know the specs are there but I might just switch carriers altogether.

I know it's naive, but I have to think a dev or two in the community would have a vague idea without doing calculus or anything.

Thanks.

EDIT: Oops. I swear I ctrl+f'd this out on the main page but I got a vague answer at the new forum for the Evo V 4G.

Mods feel free to delete or move.

I highly doubt that they will function 100% percent without some modding of them first, but they shouldn't take long to get ported. And the reason I say that they may need some modding is because people who flashed the leaked ICS rom for the Evo V on their Evo 3D have a non functional camera and data that doesn't always work along with other bugs... That may be part of the leak or because there has been some changes. Either way like MBG said it's too early to tell until the Evo V has been released.

I imagine it would be a simple matter to port ROMs over. Team Nocturnal's Xi36 ROM is maintained to work for both Sprint and Metro PCS, so I wouldn't think it wouldn't be too hard to make it work for VM/Boost.

I also merged a thread from the Evo 3D section into this one, so sorry about the confusion with the post order.

It shouldn't be too hard. VM handles MMS weirdly, but I am sure that the devs will sort that out pretty quickly.

This is exactly what has been on my mind ever since I heard we were getting this phone... :D

ROMS!!!

I am looking to upgrade primarily for the larger display it has. Presently I have an Optimus V with IHO on it. I think that next time around I will root but not do a custom rom. Simply freezing all the garbage with something like App Quarantine ought to be enough to keep me happy.

With ICS you can disable garbage without needing to use any 3rd party apps. :)

Since we will have ICS stock, it shouldn't take our devs long to have CM9 and MIUI on it.*

*Then again, it could be a mess. But it is easier to mod something than it is to make it from scratch. (example: CM7, CM9 for the Triumph. Remember, we started out with 2.2.2)

Yeah. It's a miracle we even have any kind of ICS for the MT.

I agree. There is a MIUI 2.3.7 ROM for the Evo 3D that could probably be ported, but I don't know if i'd want to downgrade from ICS to gingerbread just for MIUI.

I would gladly. I loved MIUI on my Triumph.
It's such a beautiful user interface.
The customization options are positively amazing too.

If only Isaac were around. :hmmmm:

Don't they have an miui ics Rom for the 3d already? I thought they did. If so porting isn't an issue, it's an easy port.
