Root Changing your PRL on CTMod and CM7 when DM scripts fail

This guide is intended for people who are on CTMod or CM7 and http://androidforums.com/galaxy-prevail-all-things-root/496242-script-dm-cm7-ctmod-update-2-10-a.html doesn't work for you. So, let's get started.

1. MAKE A BACKUP!!! I can't stress this enough.

2. Follow the instructions at this link: http://androidforums.com/galaxy-prevail-all-things-root/375550-odin-return-phone-stock-factory-updated-02-23-new-fa19-image.html. MAKE SURE TO CHOOSE A ROOTED IMAGE WITH CWM SO YOU CAN RESTORE YOUR PHONE

3. Once on stock, go to this link: http://androidforums.com/galaxy-prevail-all-things-root/460182-1984kbps-speedtest-net-results-after-couple-tweaks.html. Follow the instructions in the section titled "Switch to a Sprint PRL"

4. Turn off your device and start it in recovery mode by holding volume up and power til you get to CWM recovery.

5. Install your ROM's zip file by going to "Install zip from sd card > Choose zip from sdcard > [insert name of your zip file]"

6. Restore from your backup.

These are the steps I took in changing my PRL. You my choose to back your sd card up to your computer but you shouldn't need to. I had no issues with files on my SD card. Ultimately the only difference from before you start to after you're done is your PRL version. Your backup will restore all your apps and phone settings to the way they were before you started.

confirmed this worked for me i went back to ctmod 2.5 followed the steps but after i restored back to ctmod 3.6 i let my phone boot all the way up then i went into recovery and restored my cwm image after it restored and rebooted it took 5 minutes plus to reboot then without doing anything wait another 10 minutes and all my greyed out apps that were on my sd card majically reappeared just make sure to wait it out they will come back im running ssm with 120 apps

LOL. Don't feel bad. I've been doing this for a while now. Now you'll know an easier way that'll save you some time the next time you do it.:)


Another tip I'll pass along that will probably help you one day is to make frequent CWM backups and save them to your PC. They have saved my butt several times. ;). If anything happens and you get stuck in a boot loop, just turn the phone off, remove the sd card and plug it in to your pc. Then copy the cwm backup to you card then restore it. If you don't have a card adapter for the PC you might wanna get 1. Trust me........ they really come in handy.:ridinghorse:

they sure do!!! i think i have seriously about 200 or so of them since the beggining.
 
as far as the dl script not working for me i wonder if its because my computer is running xp seems to me everyone using windows 7 the script works
 
Witch stock rom were you guys able to use this one? I tried on the latest fa19 and it wouldn't work on my device and root was not sticking all the way..

I used the rooted EJ06 but it should work with FA19. You should use the one that already has root
