someone please help me I'm kind of a noob i really want to run different roms but i don't understand how to install this anytime iv done something like this it has been with rom manager so heres were i am my phone is rooted with the one click thing now i don't know what to do from here how do i install clockwork mod and cm7 i need very simple step by step details please starting from the beginning like i just rooted my phone please email me instructions as soon as possible a video would be awesome but i know thats asking a lot my email is osxfanboy@gmail.com thanks in advace or just reply to my post with instructions thanks

I know how you feel; I was there just about two weeks ago. Even now that I pretty much understand how to get a ROM on our phone I'm still confused about some aspects of the process.

The ROMs that are available right now are still considered to be in beta and have some issues many users would consider show stoppers, but if you're intent on trying one out I think what you'll need to do next is install an application called ODIN. From my understanding, you cannot install ClockworkMod on our phones simply by downloading it from Google Play; you'll use ODIN to install ClockworkMod. Once that's installed you'll be able to use ClockworkMod to flash the beta of CyanogenMod 7.

Basically, you'll have to get your phone into what's called Download Mode in order to use ODIN; read the instructions on the link in regards to that.

Actually, you can fix it. Someone posted a link on the previous page concerning this and they flashed an MMS from their Ascend. I reflashed this rom with it and I can say that it does work.

The major problems with this rom are MMS and camera, but with Fast Burst Camera from the Play Store and that MMS apk, it's fixed.

Anyone know how to fix the Google play error? I did the framework and Google play clear data went to recovery wiped all caches mounted system flashed gapps also tried it without mounting the system and I still get that 492 error if anyone has a work around or fix let me know please and thanx

Wipe everything and reinstall, then sign into google and accept the stores TOS and dont touchanything from there. Some people can let it sit for tenminutes and others for an hour. Also letting it sit for 10 minutes or so after flashing the rom while still in recovery helps.

well i adp pushed it to system/app then fixed permissions, installed it and rebooted. i also did try the mms metroff fix but not sure if that did anything because im still running the stock sms app and roaming indicator comes on still.
yes metro.

took this oout for the day, same issues with miui..data isnt what is should be and gps not working right.
all these things tho i think have something to do with the phone not knowing its location..all my speedtests still want to connect to servers in midwest, rather than my closest one being in los angeles.

Well i might have do some adbing, did you mount system and data before you flashed metroff?

ya i did. the only reason i used adb is because its way faster. im startung from stock right now, fresh reinstalls, set ups, configurations etc. and gonna try to get this data and gps thing figured out

you have to flash the cwm and kernal package in this thread..then reboot back into recovery, then youll see youre in cwm 5.02.08, then you install the cm7, then the gapps, then boot into rom.
if you actually follow the instructions provided in the op STEP BY STEP very carefully, you shouldnt have any problems.
