So I installed this rom, and I love it. the only thing I've noticed is that the signal bars are way off. I had 3 bars constantly on the stock rom and now it says I only have one. and my mobile data isnt working right. is there a workaround for this?

No not yet these are known bugs just hold on for beta 3

Thanks, requisite0, for all the work you've been putting into getting CyanogenMod running on our Samsung SCH-R720 devices. Thanks also to everyone who put all the pieces into place so that requisite0 could get to where he's at in the process. Thanks, lastly, to anyone who will be building upon the resulting work.

So I just installed the beta 2 on my Samsung Vitality. This is my first experience with CyanogenMod and it looks like it's going to be a lot of fun to use. I'm no longer a Cricket subscriber so I'm mainly interested in using my phone as a miniature portable computer (or portable media player, or something else).

I've read a good number of the posts in this thread and am encountering the same issues others are so it's not necessary for me to mention them again. So I'll just say...Thanks again!

I just installed the beta 2 on my Samsung Vitality. It looks great but so far I can't install anything; during the installation process I get one error or another. The most common error is "'APPLICATION_NAME' could not be downloaded due to an error. (492)", as in:

The other error I receive states that the file is invalid or something.

I've tried installing both from the device and from the Google Play website; I'll try installing using Android Debug Bridge next. If that doesn't work, I'll try install another ROM for now...but I'm looking forward to the next beta of this one!

Thanks again!

Go to manage apps and clear the data on the google service framework, and the play app....then boot into recovery and clear all cache, reboot then go turn airplane mode on then off, then give it a try..:pepsi:

Thank you for the suggestion, macjay420. I'm still getting the 492 error (the one that prevents me from installing from Google Play), though. I'll start from scratch -- follow all of the steps in the original post -- and see if I can get this thing working...

I thought that would work...did you mount the system before you flashed gapps.?..I know it says you dont have to, but ive had better success with it..ill try to get mine to do it again so i can try to figure it out..post solution if you get before i do. :)

Mount the system? In ClockwordMod (CWM), you mean?

Also, this: I'm wondering if my problem occurs due to partitioning the SD card. I partitioned it using ClockwordMod recovery hoping to free up the 3GB of space the card dedicated to Muve Music. (It's a Samsung Vitality.) I set 4GB for one partition and 256MB for the swap partition. I don't know how it's going about doing that -- providing 4GB for one partition and 256MB for the swap when there's only 4GB total on the SD card that came with the phone -- but that's what I've done. When I rebooted the phone it displayed a message stating that the SD card wasn't right, and it offered a Format option which I selected. So now I have no idea how the SD card is formatted/partitioned. When I run any task in ClockwordMod recovery it displays a message stating that the log could not be found.

I'll clarify in a future post if you're unfamiliar with any of this.

I am still painfully trying figure out why GPS is not working on my vitality. I've installed all of the updates including the cricket apn. Anyone know a solution? I've fallen in love with CM7. I would not have otherwise made a peep save for the fact that I need the gps for my exercise apps.
Thanks in advance and God bless the devs! :beerglass:

I'm pleased with my phone. Nd I love cm7.. I got camera and mms and GPS working. So I'm good. It I was wondering could tethering nd mobile hotspots be added. I use barnacle but I know my ascend used to have it. Just curious. :)

Hm, i'd upload it to Dropbox (their dl speeds are very FAST, and when i say FAST i mean very fast.) but i'd have to redownload it and then upload it. But i think someone will upload it to the typical 4shared with its slow speeds.
Also i have that MF problem on my phone too. But when i change the user agent to IE6 or Desktop it goes to the site. What browser do you have? Try to change the Default Android USer agent to Desktop.
