Hey all. I have to say this. As someone who has been using Custom Roms going back to the HTC Wing (Windows Mobile Pro 6), and then migrating over to Android in 2009 with the Mytouch 3G then to the 4G and now the HTC Amaze 4G and soon (hopefully the One S here in the next few months). Any quality custom ROM be it Android and Windows Mobile/Phone takes time to cook. Because of the differences between each phone. You have to remember Each phone has it's own quirks, hardware, Radio's, display sizes, CPU Cores. Think of it like a Computer. The computer needs drivers for every piece of hardware it has so it can properly utilize said hardware. Phones are no different.
As stated above I have dealt with a lot of custom ROMS for mainly HTC Phones, so I know what it is like trying to be patient, unlike the more popular HTC, Samsung, LG and Motorola phones. This phone (which is no where near as popular as the aforementioned devices) will take time to get a "Gold Code" quality ROM out mainly because unlike a direct from Cyanogenmod, these roms are done by people working on it on their free time.
My advice is this, be patient, understand why it is taking so long and whatever you do, don't pester the person who is customizing the code for this phone.
And not to come off as a Ass, if you feel he is taking too long, learn how to program and offer your assistance, or even better make a big donation to him so he can dedicate more time to the work being done.
Requisite0, you are doing a great job so far. The current build is pretty damn stable for a RC, If you need help with Debugging and so forth just let me know. I have helped debugged many of roms over the last 4 1/2 years.
As I said before don't pester him when a new release will come out, I have seen more then a fair share of programmers gets PO'd and give up just because people are constantly pestering.

I would like to know as well what to set the permissions too. so far not working for me

you have to uninstal the original one. you also need to restore your apn. cool thing about the mms app is that its the black one..and you can use it on other roms.
but ive been using this rom almost all week, switched back to stock this morning tho so i can try monster5, but ill boot back into cm7 and take some screenshots and look where it is..im pretty sure i had to push it to data/app, then run the mms metroff fix again (ya i know i said not too, but it was hit and miss for me ) with system and data mounted to avoid having overwrite the com.android.Mms.apk but let me check.
bah..nvm that..
sync your account/contacts
flash the metroff fix in cwm
reboot to rom and uninstall/delete the (white) mms.apk from system/app
enable usb debugging
adb push com.android.Mms.apk system/app/com.android.Mms.apk
change permissions to rwrr however you can. (i used root explorer)
install the apk
reboot, done.
youll see the black mms.apk (green icon still in apps)
i did all this just right now from a fresh install since my last post and sent a pic msg and it actually sent super fast.

thanks alot for the details that helps me a ton! only question i have now is which metroff you are talking about? I have found a few of them like the ones made for the ascend and the optimus m. and the one posted on the miui rom page. Im not sure which one you are flashing. could you tell me what thread it is in so i can search for it? or post a link or something so i know im flashing the right one. would appreciate it. btw kinda strange chatting with baby jesus on the internet lmao great screen name i love it! Will Ferrell would be proud!
Edit if you are talking about this one (MetrOFF-v1.3-MMS-GB-Edify-CM_AOSP-No-Roaming_indicator_Off_signed.zip) I get an error and install aborted every time i try to flash it? i dont get it. i mount system and data and same thing. Thats why i am wondering which one you are talking about. also there are two seperate links to mms apks in the thread. are they both the same or is one different?

heres the 2 files..
weird the fix wont install for you, works for me just fine. you could just extract and push the files manually.
i uninstalled the original apk first with links2sd
mount system and data to flash the fix
then uninstall old apk, push the new one, set permissions, install, reboot.

i have metro so i will confirm or deny for you. i just got cm flashed. waiting on titanium to restore everything then i will dive into your instructions

confirmed working!!!!!! for metropcs that is! thanks alot thats the only thing that was keeping me from using cm7. for everyone using metro if you follow baby jesus instructions posted above perfectly you will have working mms. Thank you for this fix! seems you still have to do the airplane mode thing tho to get rid of the roaming indicator thing but I can live with that
Edit: you should make a new thread and share this with everyone. Im sure that there are alot of people who would appreciate it.

after you move the new mms.apk to system/app did you set the permissions and then click on it and install it?

Sure did. Is it supposed to tell me its still going to replace a system app even though I uninstalled the old one?
Edit: Okay, so I got the Apk to actually work, but it's Limbo-sending now lol. But hey at least the app itself works.
yes its supposed to tell you its going to replace a system app..thats fine.
the mms fix doesnt do anything for the roaming indicator on our phone, but if you look at the file "eri.xml" in data, youll see where you can insert text where it ususally says "Roaming indicator" and "Metro Pcs" in the notification toggle..you can add your own text instead.
