Restart your device and then go to Settings> About Phone> System Updates. It will either say "Your system is up to date" or will prompt you to download the new update. Before doing this, ensure that your battery level is above 40% so that your phone is able to check for the update.

Okay thanks, restarting can sometimes help to force it.

Still showing me "System is currently up to date." I restarted first as well.

Okay, it could be coming out in waves. I still haven't heard of anyone who has actually received it as of now. However, if VZW's employee system shows as released today, it is coming VERY soon. Should anyone receive it, please post to this thread.

Why not new app drawer or 5 home screens? Its perfectly capable. Again i buy an updated device because google is separating us. This is ridiculous. (Sadface)

Probably not related but my droid just totally died. I knew it was fully charged but it just would not come on. Pushed all buttons. Nothing. Had to pull the battery for about 30 secs before it started working again. Hmmmmmm

so if I wanna root... I mine as well install CyanogenMod v5.0.4.2 now? Because getting the 2.1 update won't do anything for me compared to that?
Not a bad idea.. 2.1 will likely not be rootable directly after update. If you do decide to go ahead and install the 2.1 update, you could always flash the 2.01 SPB file with RSD Lite..

A launcher can be installed to fix that issue. Helix comes to mind...

Absolutely...Helix is the top launcher available now for the Droid, IMHO...can not think of using my Droid w/out it. :)

How has it been confirmed the update is ESE53...I didn't see that.

From the top of the PDF doc, AP: ESE53/BP: C_01.3E.03P, which seems to be the same thing I already have on.

Red 5, reporting...

Rebooted, and check system update here in cincinnati... updated to ESE53 successfullly =)

wooooo its fast! makes me wonder if they finally put that extra 430mhz PowerVR GPU to good use in the new update for optimized graphics handling or as a secondary processor or symetric multiple processor.

gonna play around with it for a bit

checkin doesn't work either.

not so easy when the cam is on the back side of my phone, any screenshot apps out there?
Find a way! We need proof! If anybody else gets the update, please extract the update file before installing.

Well, now I'm curious. Will people running the leaked version of ESE53 get notified for the update? Surely there are some kind of differences in the leaked and the official. Pondering whether to flash back to 2.0 or see what happens.......
