Root Anyone else have this issue with Titanium Backup?

ZepTepi

I unlocked my bootloader and got recovery earlier and downloaded TB so I could backup before moving on to making a nandroid backup, partitioning my sd card and flashing a rom. Unfortunately TB is telling me I'm not rooted. I downloaded BusyBox but it didn't help. Anyone run into this issue before? If so, what was your fix?

The message I got was as follows:

"Error

Sorry, I could not acquire root privileges. This application will *not* work! Please verify that your ROM is rooted and includes BusyBox, and try again.

This attempt was made using the "su" command."

it sometimes will do that initially. just go into the su app and allow titanium backup access. if that does not work then try and uninstall titanium backup and the re-install it.

I tried that before bed last night but can't figure out how to add apps to SU. It's not very straight forward. I looked over SU last night and this morning but there are no instructions within the app and no buttons I can find for adding apps. The main screen is unclickable and the only options using the menu button are "go elite", "clear log", and "preferences". I have gone over preferences but still can't figure it out. I'll pick this back up after work today.

Thanks ocnbrze

basically what the su app does is that it will show all apps that have been allowed or denied access to the system partitions. if tb is not listed there then just uninstall tb and then re-install it. or sometimes even just force stopping it and deleting the tb's data should work as well. go into settings>apps>tb>force stop tb and wipe data.

I force stopped TB then wiped the data and when that didn't work I uninstalled & reinstalled it. It is still giving me the same message.
I then uninstalled & reinstalled SU but that didn't work either. It is SuperUser by ChainsDD that I am supposed to be downloading, right? Is there an alternate app I should try?

what rom are you on? if you are on stock have you flashed the su file?

the su file should not be downloaded from the market. it needs to be flashed in recovery by itself or by flashing a custom rom (all custom roms have su cooked in).

Stock rom right now. Just got home and getting ready to flash the su file.
Should I uninstall SuperUser app from my phone first or doesn't that matter?

no worries. congrats!!!!!!!!!!

TY. Now I just have a few steps left and I can start getting all the apps(and then some) back that I've had to delete over the last few months.

>Initial Backup w/ MyBackup app - DONE
>Backup sd card - DONE
>Unlock Bootloader - DONE
>Install custom recovery - DONE
>Flash the su file - DONE
>Download tb and backup - DONE
>Make a nandroid backup - DONE
>Backup sd card
>Install new sd card
>Partition
>Flash rom
>Big sigh of relief at having accomplished this! :D
