Root This is the right order, right?

So I've successfully unlocked my bootloader and gotten recovery.

Is this the proper order for the rest of what I need to do?

  1. partition my new sd card.
  2. flash a rom
  3. copy my backup(on my pc) of my current sd card onto the new card.
  4. make a nandroid backup.
  5. download Titanium Backup and backup my phone.

Download tb and backup
Make a nabdroid backup
Backup sd card
Partition
Flash rom

I had to have missed a step right?

-Unlocking bootloader DONE
-install custom recovery DONE
-???
-Download tb and backup
-Make a nabdroid backup
-Backup sd card
-Partition
-Flash rom

In ocnbrze's guide it says:

"here is an overview of the process:
1.go to HTCdev and follow directions to get your bootloader unlocked
2.install custom recovery
3.flash the su file or you can flash a rom of your choice"

I am confused in that I thought I would accomplish the 3rd step after I was done with the partitioning step as per Rxpert.

Obviously I've royally screwed this up but how exactly?

You didn't royally screw up, just flash the SU file.

Ahh yes if you are still on the stock unrooted ROM you will have to flash the superuser file in recovery.

I made the assumption that you had already done that. Thats the reason all your root apps are saying they cant get root access, because the ROM doesnt allow it.

I'll do that as soon as I get home later.

Thanks Rxpert.
