I cant make calls, and it reboots every time i try, other than that when the phone is off it looks GREAT and when it is on the Home screen it looks GREAT. I just cant make or recieve any phone calls? Kind of a problem. I am a loyal sprint, HTC, and evo fan though so I am being patient after two and a half hours of working on trying to get it set up and functioning and now i get to call tech support
hate rants on here, but im still on phone and wont have new phone now until Tuesday at the earliest. wont let me go to a store, wont ship through fed ex even though they show tat as an option in email sent out. closing in on five hours, got my lines changed back, but now no data on my original evo. i will never order through phone or internet again. talking face to face is well worth it, even if i have to wait three months. debating sending it back when i get it next week and waiting on SIII. even if i wanted to go buy from a store they are holding my upgrade hostage now since i activated this phone.
 
Very jealous of all of you guys getting them from Best Buy.

I've called my Best Buy (San Bruno, CA) four times and have gotten four answers.

The first girl told me that they were supposed to come out a few weeks ago but got backordered, and would not get any more in stock until next week or the week after. After I told her how they were stuck in customs, she got her manager on the phone who told me that it will arrive on the 24th and will be available for the pre-orders on the 25th.

I call back today (24th) and they did not receive it in their shipment and say the expected delivery date is undetermined. When I mentioned that folks at other Best Buy's around the nation were fulfilling their pre-orders already, she said I must have gotten wrong information, or must be getting phones confused.

I called another Best Buy (in Colma, CA) today, and she said Sprint has not announced a launch date and they would not receive any until Sprint does so. She said she checks the computer updates every day, and there is NO mention of the Evo LTE.

I am seriously in no rush to get my phone, but just the general lack of knowledge by Best Buy employees is off-putting.

Ha! You think that is bad?? Try pre ordering with radioshack.... worst mistake of my life.. tell em Burger time!
 
To expand on my experience with Best Buy, I just want to say that I am COMPLETELY THROUGH WITH THEM.

I ended up getting an email at 7:19pm saying that my phone was ready for pick up.

I immediately dash out the door and drive half an hour to the Best Buy. When I get there, the guy looks at my email confirmation and says "No, I know you got the email, but we are not releasing the phones until tomorrow."

I ask, "Why is that? Every other Best Buy in the nation is filling pre-orders already?"

He goes and calls his manager who basically said the email was sent in error because they just received shipment in the store. Although they have the phones physically in the store, they are not releasing them until tomorrow and I would need to come back.

Basically, they told me to take a hike.

There wasn't much I could do with the manager out and some clueless guy there so I just had to leave with no phone in hand. So, I wasted a few bucks in gas and an hour of my life with nothing to show for it. I'm completely through dealing with Best Buy.

Isn't it annoying when they begin to tell you " well it was delayed and blah blah " its like dude I ALREADY KNOW JUST GIVE ME MY PHONE!!!!
 
RS still has no clue. Called and they were like, "your the guy who pre-ordered right?". That's not a good sign for Sprint. I remember when I got my OG Evo there were like 6 people when I got to the store at 6:30 AM! Anyways they said they still have no received word. What is going on at RS? All I can do is shake my head.

This is ridiculous...I preorderdd as soon as rs took pre orders.. and I am the only one at my store... they have handled this horribly... I really did mean it on fb when I said this will be my last time... the best buy which is 3 miles away from my RS is already filling pre orders....
 
Got mine this afternoon but have been running around all day and have been unable to activate it. However, upon removing it from its box, I noticed a problem--the top rear cover keeps popping off in one corner. I noticed it was popped open very slightly, so I snapped it shut, thinking nothing of it. Well, it immediately popped back open. I snapped it shut; it popped back open. I took the whole cover off, reattached it, and the dang thing popped back open. I can't tell if it's a defective cover that's not seating well, or if the phone itself has a physical defect preventing a cover from seating properly.

Either way, I'm going to a Sprint corporate store tomorrow to see if they can help.

Yeah, true. I guess things could be worse.

I was just blowing off steam, since they told me to come into the store only to tell me to go home empty-handed.

Really though, experiences like this make me think no wonder Best Buy is facing 1.7 billion dollar quarterly losses. It's a running joke now that the customers know more than employees do about these products.

Anyway, I hope I absorbed all the bad karma for everyone else and you all get your phones sooner than later with good customer service experiences along the way.

I'm in Orlando, and were in the same boat, actually I think I'm a little worse because the corporate Sprint didn't have the phone and I walk across the street and BB has them in stock! WTH!? I guess I gotta keep waiting!:o
 
I waited an hour and a half in Best Buy, but I finally have it!

First impression: Woah, this thing is big! And THIN! Coming off a 4S it's like a slip of paper. I'm worried it'll blow away in the wind.

The kickstand is awesome. I almost never used the kickstand on my OG EVO, but the mid-body location and three orientations make this one infinitely more useful. It's also rock solid and doesn't feel like it's going to collapse on you.

The screen is gorgeous. I'll have no problems dropping the 4S for this on that account.

Data is so far so good. Not getting an LTE signal anywhere, but I might be out of range of the towers I've seen on S4GRU. And those towers might not actually be accessible at the moment. When I previously left Sprint, I was getting 100-300 kbps at home and maybe 500 kbps while at work. Now at home and work I'm getting around 1 mbps. I don't know if that's better radios or tower upgrades or both, but I can live with it until LTE is activated here.

Sense 4.0 is certainly toned down from the last time I used it (OG EVO), and it's probably the most attractive of all the manufacturer skins, but I'm already aching to root this bad boy and throw a killer ROM or three on it.

I love that long-pressing the camera button opens the camera app. Haven't had a chance to make a call yet, but will do that soon. And my NFC tags should be here next week so I'll be able to mess around with those as well.

All in all, it's good to be back in Android land!



I was at BB for about two and a half hours. for you and any others that had to be there longer than normal, especially over an hour, call their corporate number and voice your dissatisfaction with the process. I was content to wait about an hour, but the fact that no one in the mobile dept had a clue about the promotions, how to activate etc. ended up taking more than a couple hours. the manager offered percent off accessories but that wasn't good enough for me. I called corporate when I got home and ended up getting a 30 dollar gift card for my troubles. needless to say I felt a little better now that I'll be able to grab a couple free accessories. and they will honor the 30 percent off on top of it. so my point is if you had an excessive waiting experience like me, make the call and be compensated for your time.
 
The purchase of my Toshiba thrive tablet today has helped to numb my LTEvo pain.. But I would be lying if I said I wasn't jealous of all the lucky people who got their phones today.. Can I hold one???!! :D

It was scheduled for the 18th, got delayed in customs till the 24th... thats 6 days... Even if you need a replacement phone, are you suggesting its going to take 3 weeks to get another?? :rolleyes:

still LMAO, but seriously see one of my recent posts...basically call corporate and voice your dissatisfaction with the whole process...you will get at least a gift card...mine was for 30 bucks and 30% off of accessories....makes it a lil better
 
Well like some of the people that got the phone from BB....yeah I was in the store close to an hour. I didn't know and was surprised that they charge tax to the "regular" price of the phone. Aside from that...I'm happy and ready to play with the phone while I wait for my case mate comes in.

a 50 coupon is applied at purchase for pre-ordering and was taped to my box ready to go so they didn't forget.

the 50 phone freedom thing is at time of purchase, when they look up your phone number it will tell them you have applied for phone freedom

another 50 gift card for trading in your EVO is applied at time of purchase as well (just tell them you intend to do this if you are so they know ahead of time)

everything was painless as can be, walked out 50 bucks less but an LTEVO richer!!!!!!


You should have got both $50 discount off price of phone and $50 gift card for trading in phone. Weren't there signs all over? I provided links to all.

What's funnier Is that I posted an angry complaint on radioshacks Facebook wall.. Which they didn't reply to for a day.. I did get a reply from a guy with the last name "burger"..... You see where this is going?..... What are the odds that me and him end up there it seems that not only are we the only ones in this thread who pre ordered with radioshacks but possibly the us lol..
 
If I had to guess... No... I wonder what happens if they still didn't have a replacement for you In 14 days.... Wonder if you would get a refurbished... Or still a new one bc its not your fault their backed up... Hmmm

I'm in CA so I'd have 30 days. However I'm leaving the country June 13th, so if they didn't have replacements by then I'd have to go through HTC for a replacement.

Oh I thought sprints policy for new phones was 14 days ... I might be mistaken... Who knows in cali... But I know it's 30 days for accessories.. 14 for new phones... I'm located in South jersey

Btw.... Sounds like you have luck like me.... I'm on my third 3vo all factory issues.... And I had to exchange the tablet I bought this morning bc the speaker was crackling.... So just think.... It could be worse! :D
 
To burgertime... Neo over at isn was nice enough to retweet one of my tweets asking him to see if any of his followers had heard anything about an eta at radioshack.... And got numerous answers most being to look out for tomorrow... So hopefully we can join the cool people over in the I got mine thread :cool:

It's 14 days if I wanted to cancel Sprint service without paying an ETF, but it's 30 days for returns or exchanges of the phone itself independent of service.

The worst thing that could happen is I might have to live with it. It's not the end of the world.

Idk where I'm pulling the 14 from... I just remembered trying to get my 3vo replaced with a new one the first time it crapped out and 14 Is just sticking in my head... Idk
