How much longer will you keep your EVO 4G?

Who is upgrading to the LTE and who is staying Old School?

well i am out of that loop too.. sprint customer for many years..

was just asking for the new customers that might want to know. i aint that curious to find the answer.
 
So we are just a few weeks from the new EVO LTE and wanted to see how many people were jumping ship and who is sticking with the Original.

I am still undecided, I have my upgrade credit and have no problems paying the $200, but my EVO is still not letting me down.

So, vote and lets see where others are at.

I'm undecided at the moment. I really have only had the OG for almost a year. Most will depend on Finances. I also want to let them put it out and get some of the kinks worked out and of course have the Phone Rootable. So I'll be staying for atleast the next 1 to 12 months.

Ya honestly, I am sort of on the fence too. Especially since I am not due for an upgrade until July 2013.

When the LTEVO comes out I am going to wait a few months to see what issues might come up with the new device, and then decide.
 
i have to wait .. even though i have an upgrade since last November.

1. wait for bugs to be worked out..

2. sometimes I need to tether.. not often.. i dont want to pay for that service.

3. i am on a sprint employee plan (sister's). so i am sure they will make me wait for you good customers to have your turn first.
 
I know the precise date. May 8th @ 10:18am EST.

Its the date that my EVO went from my lap (in slow motion) and into the water of Deep Creek Lake (MD). Its like my best friend drowned.

Too bad I couldn't call the police to have them comb the bottom of the lake to at least bring back the body. : (

Yea. I'm still in shock. I replay that moment over and over again in my head. What if I tried to swat it? I should'n't have been so stupid, etc.

Luckily I have the upgrade available since I got the Evo early on. I'm actually leaning towards the new EVO LTE (80%). If it had a replaceable battery and bottom charger port, I would've been sold yesterday. The SG3 is intriguing. Then there's the Galaxy Nexus. All phones have subtle deal breakers.

I bought a used LG Optimus on ebay to be used as a stop gap until I figure out what new phone I want. How you feeling about the new crop of phones (I can use any persuasion possible)?
 
The EVO LTE is still the frontrunner for me. I will most likely be paying (mostly) out of pocket for my next upgrade so the one thing that is going to be most important for me is the developer following.

I WILL be rooting all future devices, so how large the developer community is will make a large impact.

I'm thinking all the hype about the EVO LTE will pay off with dev support

I think it will get a lot of developer support. But it might take some time. Don't forget that a lot of Evo 4G contracts are expiring soon and they'll all be looking to get something. The LTE seems to be the best place for them to go.

SG3 is underwhelming, LTE is the same as the One X but with more features. Galaxy Nexus has fallen behind a tad. Plus most of the people who still have the OG Evo are use to Sprint and their unlimited data.
 
I am a first dayer, was the first at my Best Buy to get an Evo!! My phone is still one of the best out there but it's time to move on. Sprint sent email today, so I'll see what the real next gen Evo has to offer.

I got my OG EVO last summer, after having had a HTC Hero. I love this phone, but honestly, I am really excited about what I am reading about the new LTEVO.

So, I am considering biting the bullet, buying out my contract in September, and upgrading to the LTEVO.
 
Since my phone bezel is splitting and the headphone jack is messed up when I accidently dropped it. I think its time to say goodbye. I heard that ausurion(Spell?) are out of the EVO and EVO 3d they are giving out the epic touch 4G might do that for a little while.

I'm elgible for an upgrade since I did the buyout program but I don't know if I'm actually going to stick with sprint. We will see after network vision is done in my area and when they turn LTE

A lot of people are trading in their old EVOs as they upgrade to a new device. So Asurion shouldn't be running out of EVOs anytime soon. I've checked a few times in recent weeks, and they've always had replacement EVOs, fwiw.

Can possibly buy up to upgrade. I wasn't due until June 2013. Paid $115 to Sprint to upgrade early, and got the EVO LTE for free thanks to BB gift cards.
 
Yep, Sprint lets you buy out the remainder of your contract, so depending on how long you have left you may consider doing that (price varies with how long you have left on contract)

Ya my upgrade is not until June 2013.

My thinking is that since my Birthday is in September, I will wait until September, buy out the remainder of my current contract, and have a nice Birthday present.

Also by September, any kinks should be worked out and all of the accessories should be in by then.

As I have so eloquently stated in another post at another time (recently), I will stay with my EVO 4G UNTIL LTE service is UP AND RUNNING in my market OR I go ahead and make the decision to jump ship (after oh, 16 years of loyal patronage) and sign on with a provider that HAS the infra-structure in place and working.

As far as my EVO 4G - I am one who has not had any problems that I consider insurmountable or that Sprint was not willing to look into and 'fix'. It provides me with everything I currently need and now that it is a rooted device, I can flash a new ROM if I tire of the current one - which, in my world, makes the phone transform itself into a 'new' phone! :D
