Root On the SD Card or not?

I just flashed MikG and need to swap out to my new 16gb SD Card so I was looking at what apps are showing as on my current SD Card and have a couple of question.

When I go into "manage applications" and look at the "On SD Card" tab it shows 4 apps, but when I click on each app it shows the "Move to SD card" button as if it's currently on the phones memory. Am I interpreting that correctly?


Also, why don't any of the Apps on my current SD Card show up now that I'm on MikG? I checked and all my data from before I unlocked my bootloader is still on the card.

Just thought of another question...Can I copy individual apps/files/folders from the SD Card backups on my pc onto my new sd card or is it better/safer to just copy the entire backup to my new card?

You should have probably inserted the new card in before flashing MIkG if you planned on having the card partitioned.


The "ON sd card" "on phone" in application management is not going to be correct if the Sd card is partitioned. Just do:
su
a2sd reinstall

in terminal emulator to make sure they are all on the SD card

Should I do this even though I put the new card in, partitioned it, then switched back to the original card(which I had put MikG onto earlier), then flashed MikG, then put the new card back in the phone?

if you are already flashed to mikg, you should be fine. no need to re-flash it. it is just easier is all. did you make a titanium backup of your apps and their data? if so you can switch the cards (make sure that you have the titanium backup transferred to the new card) and restore the tb backup. your apps should move to the card( if it is partitioned already) automatically.

if they do not then you will need to get an app from the market called terminal emulator. first enter the command su (so that you can get superuser permission which allows you access to the system partition) then type a2sd reinstall. now your apps will move to the card.
