Help User Reviews of The HTC EVO 4G LTE

Hello. Its me again, the s2 idiot.
A few posts back, I acted like an idiot.
I gave an excuse, but there are no excuses good enough.
Its a new day, and I left my attitude in my bedroom for the day.
Just wanted to apologize again for butting into you good folks conversation about your awesome new phones.
Plus, my attitude is good today: I flashed my first ROM first thing this morning (Dark Evolution ICS)!

It works great, but I have many questions (like where is my Titanium Backup with all my apps?)

But I'll get out of your forum now.
And again, sorry to all of you.
Enjoy your new toy!
(Though I wish someone would run Antutu or Quadrant on their Evo. I can't help but be curious).

Thank you and have a nice day.

I don't know if its me or what..... I have noticed a few things that are bugging me. 1st, data connectivity seems to switch between connected/disconnected at random. 2nd, LTevo does NOT hold a signal as well as my MoPho did. 3rd, its quite a bit slower than my MoPho was. And 4th, LTevo gets much warmer than my MoPho did.

I am hoping that there may be an issue in my area that is causing my problems.....if not, I may be going back to the MoPho and wait to see what Motorola comes out with.....I really like the LTevo but continually losing data connection, and having a week signal is going to be a problem for me.

Anyone else notice the screen? I have it in the blue gel case and everytime I put it down, it looks like it has the fake screen that came inside the gel case. Amazes me everytime I put it down :) Still trying to find a decent text keyboard. I think Smart KB so far is doing decent. The other ones I kept hitting the "." cause I was use to the space bar being there n the OG Evo(downloaded a KB from Gimpsta that I loved on that one). Wish I could download the same again, but the resolution is too small.

Have you tried Swype?

I installed and ran the standard benchmark for you :)

Have you tried Swype?

Never got use to Swype. I just found a key height setting on Smart KB and now I really like it. I found with Swype I always had to think of which letters I needed to Swype before swyping. I can naturally type like the wind, so I prefer a basic keyboard.

My Shift came with Swype but I had already purchased SlideIT for my old Hero so when I upgraded to the Shift I kept SlideIT, I loved it. I tried Swype on the Shift a couple times and really didn't like it - but it seems like the version of Swype on this phone has been updated because it seems to work better than the version on my Shift. The only thing so far that I dislike about it is that I'd like to get rid of the "EN" key because it makes me miss the key to switch to numbers some of the time. SlideIT was nice but expensive and I think it's possible I've gotten my money's worth from it.

All that being said, I really hate phone keyboards, I'm a fast touch typist but I just can't type fast on either a thumb keyboard or a virtual keyboard. And I won't buy an external keyboard because that's just extra baggage I don't want to carry around, no matter how small! :D

The one on the OG Evo I downloaded, I had it down so well I could touch type without looking. I want that back :) I will try the others mentioned until I find the perfect one. Once I do I will purchase since someone else programmed all their hard work.

I get it looks like a fake screen all the time I have gotten so many compliments on the screen... It is beautiful

Swiftkey X is far and away the best soft keyboard I've ever used on any device. It's incredibly intuitive and very customizable. Whenever I change to a new ROM or phone, the first thing I do is switch to Swiftkey.

When I tried to install swiftkey it said it wasn't supported for the device.... Is it working for you? I always use it... Had it on my 3vo and I'm using it right now on my Toshiba thrive

The past 2 days I noticed my data connectivity also goes on and out and it is slower than my 3vo... But the interesting thing is it always has a great signal.... I'm guessing the slow data speeds and disconnecting is bc my area is contested with people right now (ocean city new jersey) tens of thousands of people head to this area for memorial Day weekend so the network may be clogged.. Couldn't get ahold of sprint today due to "unexpected number of calls"..

As far as the heat issue... Mine hasn't gotten hot at all... I was actually surprised at how it seems to never get warm.... It's only gotten warm once on me at work... Where the signal is crap.... And it's already hot in there to begin with...

Anyone finding themselves using the kickstand to prop the phone up for no reason.... Like right now it is sitting on my coffee table while I use my tab to post this... Propped up on the kickstand for no reason other than I can:rolleyes: any chance I get to use the kickstand I take it... I was really surprised at how easy It was to open! I (I'm a nail biter), and at how sturdy it feels

Thank you.
I ran mine in the Samsung forum s couple of weeks ago, and not one person responded with a benchmark result.
I just wanted to know how mine compares because I have no idea.

That Evo is one bad mo fo. That's for sure. I had no idea just how bad, though. Makes mine look pretty whimpy.

just said this to my wife. i couldn't keep up with the install.

speaker seems quiet to me. now you guys make me think i have a lemon.

I just got back from a long trip and had trouble hearing the navigation over the wind noise in my crappy car. It did seem less loud than my old EVO.
I think however it may be an issue with the app. I just downloaded some free songs and they seemed loud, but now I'm not in the car with wind noise. On my desk the navigation voice seems less loud than the free music.
Also it seems to be loudest when it's on the desk in portrait mode with the kickstand. That makes sense acoustically. What I need then is a car mount with an audio reflector of some kind or Jerry rig something to hook it up to the car stereo.

Do you think Navigation would work over bluetooth? Not saying it is the perfect solution, but it could help while in a car to hear the turn by turn better

Stilling loving my EVO LTE but now time for a couple tiny gripes. :>

The volume is a little low for me plus when you set it down that seems to make it even less loud as the speaker is on the back. I have a laptop with Beats audio and I was thinking the phone would be as loud and more like that when I heard it had Beats audio too.

Second would be I have been finding some apps and games not setup for the phone yet. I guess its so new I should have expected it.

Worked fine for me. Were you trying to install Swiftkey or Swiftkey X? I think they're both still in the play store, but X is the current one.

I use mine next to my bed at night since I don't have a home dock yet. I have a car dock and there is a car dock app. On the 3VO we had a car dock and a regular dock mode an app that just said dock was on my 3VO and it went into dock mode when I docked it in the home dock. I don't see an app on this phone.

And for anyone that had the 3VO and used the alarm when it went off and you wanted to snooze it. This is silly but didn't you drag the ring to snooze or dismiss? I thought so and was wondering why my snooze wasn't working. Now I see today I have to drag the snooze inside the circle. I know you dragged one of your for favorites on the lock screen to the ring which I never really used. But for snoozing and dismissing the alarm I thought it was the opposite. My friend he still has his 3VO and he forgot to bring it over last night but I wanted to compare some stuff. He doesn't like the 3 buttons at the bottom they don't light up good and did they stay on on the 3VO when using the phone I don't remember that neither.

Anyway sorry I typed a little long. But I haven't put this phone down since I got it. I used to use an app called Multicon on my EVO where you could have 2-4 apps connect together then on my 3VO I used this folder organizer but I had to many apps in folders and the icons were small. This dragging apps together and making a folder and naming it is great. And the I like how the 1st four apps the icon shows up and when you open the folder the icons are big I love everything about this phone so far. Music is loud it's fast. I've been using Dolphin and my friend he loves the stock browser. If I put my whole SD card on my computer from my 3VO and I used Astro are my old bookmarks there somewhere? Ok Thanks!

Google Nav worked in my bluetooth. I had to use it the 1st day I got the phone. It locked signal quick and was just plain awesome! Is there a GPS toggle switch widget I didn't see one? On the 3VO it was under quick settings Wifi, BT, GPS Mobile Network, and Airplane Mode. Now when you go to settings I don't see GPS. I know you can just scroll down and go to Location a little bit further down. So maybe I'll do that so I don't have all these widgets on my screens. I don't want all my home screens to full and messy. LOL! I used to have an app quick setting it did brightness and volume and I forget what else.

I had bought and installed it on my 3vo and then must transfers it over...maybe I need to reinstall? Every time I try to do it says it's not compatible...I just thought it was BC the phone is so new...

on my OG Evo with MikG ROM...
i use the alarm every day.
the snooze.. you have 2 options: "dismiss" or "Snooze" option.
you have to drag one or the other down to the circle.
dragging the circle up.. unlocks the phone and jumps into the alarm app.
