That is the question of the day. In many places, AT&T wouldn't even be a player without the iPhone because their coverage is so spotty. I understand and appreciate VZWs testing protocols but they really need to figure out how to speed it up.
You're 100% spot-on. The iPhone was AT&T's lifeline for without it they'd really be sucking hind-tit right now because of their lack of 3-G coverage and compelling handsets.

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple did release a VZW iPhone just to get at Google, HTC, Android. Especially if the Incredible launches and is bad @ss. Apple might wanna compete and what better way than to do it on the network that sells the Incredible.

There was a stellar article by NYT about how Apple and Google are going nutty over one another. Like WWIII.

VZW needs to drop the gloves and release this b*tch so we can get hyped and rowdy.

Edit: I also wouldn't be surprised if once ATT loses iPhone exclusivity they start offering subsidized versions of the N1...

Does anybody know anyone that works in or has ties to someone that works in a Verizon distribution center and can confirm the existence of cases of the HTC Incredible in their warehouse? My guess is that if this phone is to come out on the 27th, which is 10 days from now, they'd have stock of it in their distribution pipeline already. Heck, if I knew where one was I'd slip an employee a $20.00 bill if he/she were to show me a case with the name on it. I don't even need to see the phone.

Totally agree, I don't know how long it takes to ship from HTC Taiwan (or wherever overseas) to USA, but I would think these things would need to be in the USA by now or at least by the end of the week for a WEEK from THIS Saturday launch.

Problem is, Apple's strong arm tactics. If they come to an agreement with VZW, it's going to be at the expense of some other excellent, perhaps Incredible, hardware (see what I did there?). Every time another company gets into bed with Apple there are so many strings attached that it cripples the user experience.

Personally, I hope VZW and Apple never come to an agreement and we don't have to deal with any of it.

Hey guys I don't know if I read this or we assumed or over-looked maybe but it just hit me..

DUH! Easter!

Easter is a week after the 27th. So Maybe VZW will want this launched for the Easter Holiday. "Make this Easter Holiday Incredible".

I don't celebrate Easter, but people get together with families and give stuff for it right? There is some sort of gift giving and family togetherness? Or is just cadbury bunnies and chocolate?

OH the little peep things too

Keep in mind that there are only 7 business days left between now and the 27th and if I'm not mistaken don't new Verizon handsets typically arrive to the stores a couple of days before they're officially put on sale? After all, in addition to in-store training they need to set a demo unit up.

Given that scenario, we're now down to 5 business days to get the product to the stores. Depending on where their D.C.'s are located, there could be 2 to 3 day ship points involved to get the phone to the stores, which is why if the phone exists it should be in all of their product distribution centers by now.

For all the people that frequent this forum surely there is someone that has a connection to a VZW employee that works in one of their distribution centers. I don't care if they're a floor sweeper, surely they can find something out for us. :D

True, true, I think if a deal came VZW would have to be like nah, we will carry it along side our other devices, but not over. Kind of like a no-strings attached deal. I dunno if Apple would go for that either.

Somehow I don't see Verizon wanting to tie in the launch of their new flagship phone with a Christian holiday. It seems a bit odd to me.

Maybe jellybeans, Kappy ;)

Here's why the launch could be the 27th or prior to Easter Weekend:

1) Final Four April 3 and April 5
2) MLB Opening Night April 4 8pm
3) MLB Opening Day April 5
4) The Masters April 5-April 11 (including practice rounds)

Just my opinion, but how much better of a launch period can you get??

I can see the problems with the timeline, but I think (s)he's on to something potentially. ANY holiday release is always a viable move for retailers, and VZW is no exception. We even just gave them a tag line ;)

Also, I'm agreeing with Reginald. Right now a group of us are fighting for both the old thread and this one. Let's show them we can tone down the INCREDIBLy off topic posts. I enjoy the banter and laugh at it too, but right now, we need to show that we can do this.

makes more sense! I'm trying to think of anything to justify the 27th lol

Sorry but I have to say this then I'm done because I'm officially hoping on the HD2 bandwagon.

There is No WAY the Incredible will be out by the 27th, every HTC phone that has been released thus far has been on HTC's website for some time before launch with detailed pics and specs...there is no mention of the HTC Incredible anywhere on HTC's site. This phone is either still in the testing phase or is finishing up with testing. I realize that the testers that were on this forum sent their test units back but they are just a few of possibly 100 testers (I don't know how many testers there are).

Same as the Supersonic...no mention of it either because it's known that it's still a few months from releasing. The HD2 will not be out until the 24th and there it is on their front page.

If I currently had a phone to tide me over I could possibly wait for the Incredible but I believe it will launch in May and I can't wait that long.

Eh? Since when is a creepy egg-laying rabbit breaking into your house, laying candy coated brown-stuff filled eggs (ew...) and convincing everyone pastels are necessary Christian? Okay, yeah, I know the roots, but lets face it, every marketer used Easter to peddle crap. It's become as secularized as Christmas

Okay, this should be an easy assignment for someone. Provide a list of the cities Verizon product distributions centers are located. If there is one in MI or Northern OH that's within a reasonable driving distance I'm there with some money and a camera. I would encourage others within a reasonable driving distance of one to do the same and confirm if this bad boy exists in their pipeline. If we can get visual evidence then I think it's safe to say the 27th looks like it could be the real deal. If not then than I'm sure sometime shortly thereafter. But at least we'll know it's there. Now get to work on that list! ;-)
