From what I have seen, that is correct, unless I am missing it. I used Astro FM and looked around and all my apps, even though say moved with A2SD, are on the phones internal storage and not my SD card.

Some things like apps data are on my SD card but I don't see any apps themselves.

So is the sd card now only good for taking photos and videos?

went to my sprint hub store yesterday to get the car dock (which is awesome BTW) and the lady helping me asked if I had my EVO yet, So i pulled it out and she asked if she could please look at it, she said she is the stores EVO LTE rep and they STILL havent gotten theres in, and she was very suprised that I had mine, she was looking at it like it was a unicorn LOL

Depends on the app. If you root and go with TWRP recovery, you can flash from the external sd card, if you use Boat Browser, you can point to your external sd card for downloads, as two examples. When someone ports the link2sd steps to this phone, if they haven't already, you can use the external sd card for apps.

what about all my ringtines that are on the SD card now that the ORIG EVO sees and I can assign them? will I need to move them to the phone?

is there actually S-off for this phone? or just root? I found instructions to flash this...

The pre release thread is almost at the end of its life...the release is Saturday! :D

Sprint
The wait is almost over! Sprint will begin selling HTC EVO 4G LTE for $199.99 in most retail channels on Saturday, 6/2 bit.ly/IYTn5U
less than 1 minute ago from SocialEngage

Now all the griping can end, lol! I am eager to test this bad boy out in store!

In the past, user sounds were added to /media/ringtones, /media/alarms and /media/notifications in Android and later that changed to /ringtones, /alarms and /notifications folders - all on the /sdcard partition. Not sure if ICS brings further changes. Not sure if Rings Extended will work to access the external sd card, but it's worth a try -

S-off isn't out, I think that you really want to surf our root forum for your other questions -

I can confirm on my LTEvo that ringtones/notifications on SD card will be picked up by Android and be available as notifications/alarms (it takes the Media scanner a little while to pick them up though, it's not instant for whatever reason).

The answer for a stock EVO LTE is ???

Sorry I am not a big tech type person :D so it does not use the SD card for apps like the old EVO did and we are limited to 2 gigs for them unless we root ????

On a stock LTEvo your options for installing apps are:

1) Installed in the phone's internal storage designated for apps (is like regular app space on OG Evo or Evo 3D), of which the total space is 2.09 GB.

2) Installed in the phone's non-app specific internal storage space (as if it were an SD card aka A2SD), of which there is 9.93 GB available. Only apps that take advantage of the traditional Gingerbread Apps2SD api and give permission to do so can use this storage space. Think of this as the equivalent of the SD card on the OG Evo or Evo 3D.

So you essentially have over 12 GB of theoretical apps storage space (provided that all apps are A2SD compliant).

Just got off the phone with the Sprint store. He said they're expecting delivery today, but the haven't gotten the phones in yet. I hope they do! I'd like to at least have my pre-order (in store) a /couple/ days before the true release :)

Now to get to a Best Buy (lacking inventory) to preorder today, for my upgrade eligible tomorrow, for a Evo 4G trade-in deadline on Saturday.

Why do I feel that this isn't going to go my way? What could possibly go wrong? :D :D :D

EM - When you go in, just tell them the situation up front...I'm sure they'll get you in there. I'd just explain the situation as far as your upgrade date was concerned being the main reason why you didn't place a pre-order earlier, in order to take advantage of the trade-in deal.

Worst case scenario? They say "no," and you can turn around and see what you can sell it for on ebay/craig's list.

LOL! There are certainly alot of variables there but, I hope it all works out. You certainly deserve one for all the work you do around here!

Early, I'm not sure if you're into it or not, but you can get your eligibility bumped up free of charge. I've been with Sprint for YEARS... She couldn't even tell me how long. She only knew me as a legacy customer. :D
She was very friendly and pushed my eligibility back to May 1st though. I picked mine up last Thursday night... even if I did leave work early because I was sick. (I really was sick. Just not sick enough to miss getting my phone!)

I think this whole "Soft Launch" ordeal was masterminded by EM just to get some hype on the phone so it in demand just in time for his upgrade! He was behind all the "Spinning" stories. :p

On another note, you might want to reconsider trading in you OG Evo at BB. They only end up giving you $50 for it (Sprint's buyback was $70). When I got mine they weren't going to give me any discounts, but I told them I had been told I would receive a $50 discount for upgrading a Sprint phone through them then an additional $50 if I decided to trade in my OG Evo (they were only going to give me $100 off for trading in my OG Evo). I asked to talk to the manager and he looked it up on the computer and said he just needed an overide to get me my $50 discount. Then I sold my OG Evo for more than $50. So you might inquire about that too.

Have fun with your new phone this weekend! It is definitely worth the wait!:D
