Put my deposit in - the BB manager was a nice guy, so I'll get one when I get one, I trust him.

Why did you put a deposit down? I am surprised they accepted it.

But yeah, very cool they are accepting pre-orders through Friday. Hope everyone gets the max deal possible.

yep saw that this morning thanks for posting. Are you one of the first day or two orders. I orders mine on the 8th. The anticipation is almost killing me..

I ordered on the 7th, but only two of my circles on wheres my order site have been checked. I'd like to get the EVO ASAP, so that I can list my current EVO for sale. I had no idea when the phone was going to be released, but saw the Wirefly deal on slickdeals.net and ordered right away.

New Wirefly update on Facebook...
Wirefly said:
HTC EVO 4G LTE Inventory Update
We have confirmation that our shipment of the HTC EVO 4G LTE was shipped to us today. It will be delivered to us tomorrow and we will turn them around and ship the entire order out via next business day shipping through FedEx to pre-order customers in the order that they were placed. We have also received communication that we should receive more inventory from Sprint towards the end of next week. Everyone at Wirefly is working hard to make sure that you get your HTC EVO 4G LTE as soon as possible.

Looks like we will have our EVOs by Monday and latest by Tuesday.

Yes so did I and ordered right away. You may want to check with Wirefly CS. I had and issue with them accessing my sprint account and they needed my access pin. I provided that and with in minutes I was waiting for or TBDd until shipment arrived. I should see ya on the other side Monday or Tuesday.

So I called Sprint and asked them to waive the activation fee.

They laughed.

So I asked if I could pay for an early upgrade fee for my wife's line.

They said no and then decided I could cancel that line, pay the $70 I'd owe for that on an ETF, then add a new line to get the launch deal.

"Hi honey, forget your hundreds of contacts who know you by the line you've had for years - lookee the new phone!"

Yeah. No.

Yeah. No.

EM, VZW lets us swap phone numbers / plans between each other. So in your scenario, I would be able to sign up for a new 2yr plan and assign my wife's number to it and a new number to the unexpired existing plan. Then cancel the plan with the new number and pay the ETF. Wife has a new phone on a 2yr plan with the same number.

I'm not sure if Sprint works this way, but it could be worth a shot.

This is news to me, I was told by two CSRs I can't swap numbers between lines, only devices.

Might need to try again as I will take a senior members word here over at least three VZW reps...

And back on topic, congrats to all you soon to be EVO LTE owners ;)

Yeah. No.

I've read of many stories where people have been successful porting their numbers to google voice or some prepaid service. Then porting the number back to Sprint. Just an option.

The rep walked through every combo, including that one.

Only way to get it for her is to transfer my account from two plans into a family plan, get a third line, do the phone-hula dance to get the old line on the new phone - and get fewer services for the same money - and a third line I don't need. And if I change that back to the plan I have a month later and pay the ETF on the odd line, I'll still lose her line.

Can't get there from here.

They have secret sales and it does vary by region. Had I called May 5, I could have bought her an early upgrade for $45. Recently, my Magic 8 Ball heard that they are doing that secret offer in the cities where the LTE rollout is hitting so they can really get people buzzing LTE. But my Magic 8 Ball said that got put into confusion when the phone hold-up happened.

Anything else on that, the blue fluid in my Magic 8 Ball is too cloudy to read through. ;)

Excellent options.

Yep, and last year getting on GV through Sprint was free. But I never did.

I did consider the number swap stuff, that is a good idea (discussed it via GV with the rep even). But WifelyMon goes into a hard simmer at the very thought of replacing her Shift. So, it either has to be the big easy button or she is going to have to fall in love with the new Evo to want to put up with anything.

We have a pretty inflexible view on things - go to store, make deal, avoid ever paying full retail, walk out with working product.

Visiting (in person) the same store twice to make a buy is something that I've only done twice in the last few decades - first time was the Evo, second time was this phone. Her phone has to be something I arrange on the phone, we sneaker in with money and sneaker out money poor but phone rich.

A happy WifelyMon - priceless (but still not worth full retail or a chicken dance because they won't take my $45 :D).

Just got back from my local sprint store that I pre-ordered at and I was number 1. They told me my phone is in back but they no ability to activate it until tomorrow....I call BS

Assume you called top tier support about waiving activation?

dude.. sorry.. that sucks!

there has to be a way to work it out... so that she can upgrade and keep her number. sometimes it is just better to get someone face to face.
go to the retail outlet you prefer most.. and have a talk, see if they can help.

Funny thing I saw today at the Sprint store. The case for HTC was empty. I did find some accessories and purchased a case/belt clip and car adapter.

Twas the night
Before the official HTC EVO 4G LTE release
When all through the house
Not a creature was stirring
Not even a Otterbox

The accessories all sitting
on the desk with care
In hopes
That LTEVO
Soon would be there

The children were nestled
All safe in their beds
While visions of Ice Cream Sandwich
Danced in their heads

......

:D couldnt resist

My Sprint store just called, the EVO LTE's are in.....but they can't let them go until tomorrow.

Same here, but I was at my local Sprint store and was told the same thing....me and the manager went into her office and played with 2 display phone (actual LTEvo's) and showed her features that apparently she didn't know exist!;)

Hello, everyone... I actually got to play with the EVO 4G LTE today at the local Sprint store due to me being well-known there. I then began playing with it and immediately found out that I was on a phone call AND on the web at the same time. I am not just another person when it comes to Android phones and know that I was truly on the web simultaneously. I was ONLY refreshing Google.com though and that was it due to me only having a minute or 2 to play with it but I do know for a fact that I was on 3G and not LTE but was refreshing Google's web page. May have been something weird but the phone call WAS connected to my current device talking to my current device and refreshing the page. I don't know if this was a one time thing or not nor did I find any other threads here at all about it but I DID in fact confirm this for one specific device here in Fort Myers. Has anyone confirmed this or even gotten the rumors about it? I have not read anything nor seen any thread titles about this so am just curious.

This is unofficially possible on Sprints network giving the conditions are just right. There was an internal document leak that mentioned this.

It's a special going on they told me and they said they were waving everyones activation fee this month. Well that was May but still they should wave it and let you buy out your wife's contract and get an early upgrade too. I would call back that isn't right. I didn't know it had to do by area. That's Crazy! I am really excited that everyone is getting there phones. You guys are gonna love it.
