EM, VZW lets us swap phone numbers / plans between each other. So in your scenario, I would be able to sign up for a new 2yr plan and assign my wife's number to it and a new number to the unexpired existing plan. Then cancel the plan with the new number and pay the ETF. Wife has a new phone on a 2yr plan with the same number.
I'm not sure if Sprint works this way, but it could be worth a shot.
The rep walked through every combo, including that one.
Only way to get it for her is to transfer my account from two plans into a family plan, get a third line, do the phone-hula dance to get the old line on the new phone - and get fewer services for the same money - and a third line I don't need. And if I change that back to the plan I have a month later and pay the ETF on the odd line, I'll still lose her line.
Can't get there from here.
They have secret sales and it does vary by region. Had I called May 5, I could have bought her an early upgrade for $45. Recently, my Magic 8 Ball heard that they are doing that secret offer in the cities where the LTE rollout is hitting so they can really get people buzzing LTE. But my Magic 8 Ball said that got put into confusion when the phone hold-up happened.
Anything else on that, the blue fluid in my Magic 8 Ball is too cloudy to read through.
I've read of many stories where people have been successful porting their numbers to google voice or some prepaid service. Then porting the number back to Sprint. Just an option.
Excellent options.
Yep, and last year getting on GV through Sprint was free. But I never did.
I did consider the number swap stuff, that is a good idea (discussed it via GV with the rep even). But WifelyMon goes into a hard simmer at the very thought of replacing her Shift. So, it either has to be the big easy button or she is going to have to fall in love with the new Evo to want to put up with anything.
We have a pretty inflexible view on things - go to store, make deal, avoid ever paying full retail, walk out with working product.
Visiting (in person) the same store twice to make a buy is something that I've only done twice in the last few decades - first time was the Evo, second time was this phone. Her phone has to be something I arrange on the phone, we sneaker in with money and sneaker out money poor but phone rich.
A happy WifelyMon - priceless (but still not worth full retail or a chicken dance because they won't take my $45
).
