Root I'm baack! SD card issues fixed, phone still freezes though :(

So, going to BACK IHO was fun! and now, I have not seen a problem with my sd card since. BUT the phone still freezes up at least once a day :(

WHY??!!!!! Sammyz, any ideas?! what can I do? I love my phone and don't want to replace it if I can fix it....
 
Does it happen when you are using certain apps or what?
Btw, r u from britain? Maybe working in the usa?

No, seems to be random! I'll pull it out of my pocket and it just won't work! gets stuck on the main screen when I press the power button to wake it instead of going to the lock screen :( I'm trying a fix that sammyz gave me, I'll have to see if it works and post back if not :)
And yes, From Britain, living in upstate NY for the last 10 yrs now :)
 
Dont really know what upstate means lol, but know that ny is new york state.

Try going into settings-Cyanogenmod settings- display and uncheck rotation animations. For some reason this setting has been causing freezing on unlock.
 
Morning, lets make longest thread got locked -_- that's all you missed since the last time you were here lol.

To overclock (aka OC, but OC could also be optimus c...) go to settings>cm7 settings>performance >CPU settings>change the minimum to 480 and the Max to 786 and change the setting on the top to interactivex..if it reboots less then check the set at startup box, and make sure the settings are how I said, if it reboots more easily....you don't have to do anything because if that box on the bottom isn't checked it resets the settings for that after a reboot.

Makes the processor work at a higher speed, thus making your phone faster, but some phones have trouble oc'ing, that's why you don't wanna check set at startup yet.

Don't know why exactly, someone posting bad stuff.

Do you mean if it freezes less? I changed the settings as you said, now, I don't reboot now though right? That would just reset it yes? I'm looking for it to be faster and not freeze up with this change right?

Oh that was a lot of questions in one paragraph! :)
 
If you are still having freeze issues, Id recommend waiting on overclocking. OCing may exacerbate the underlying issue.

You are correct, wait try this first b4 ocing
Go to terminal emulator app and type

su
fix_permissions
reboot
 
If she's still having the freeze issues and she overclocks, then you wont know if she is freezing because of the OC or because of the original issue. I don't recommend adding anything extra to that phone until she rules out all of the obvious. It's much much too difficult to troubleshoot an issue that way.
 
ok, I have unclocked (is that a word?! :) ) and been playing around with it all morning. I have kept it in my pocket, done a lot of different things very quickly with it one after the other, started then backed out of apps to confuse it and anything else I can think of and it has been golden!

Test will be if it makes it through tomorrow with no probs. If yes, then I will oc it and see what happens then :)

Now, if there were only a way to make the damn battery last! lol

Did you do fix_permissions?
