Root does fe16 help any????

FE16 seems to have increased my speeds around 300+kbps during off hours.

CTMod 3.6 with FE16 phone.tar Odinned on top with no settings changed.

edit: it also seems that my pings have dropped around 10% since losing FA19

@cwhatever, I don't think you'll see anything worse than what you're getting on EJ06 by updating to FE16. I'm on CT 3.6 with FE16 baseband and as talked about it the FE16 thread it's all been about the same as when I was on EJ06.

i was looking at my speeds and one i did on wifi and i could be wrong but i think the better things are the lower the ping . when i had bad tests the ping was higher. kinda like the signal strength in settings the lower the # the better.

thx for the info. i just think if ain't broke don't fix it. if was gonna see a big improvement then yes. my phone for the past month has been great!!!!! usually i do stuff and then i'm visiting odin or something. but man my phone has been, to me, perfect. don't wanna break it. lol, lol!!!!

Well all you would have to do is Odin the phone.tar and see how that works for you. That would give you the FE16 baseband without doing anything else to your phone. If your reception or speed doesn't increase or change at all, then I'd just stay on the updated baseband. Otherwise, if it gets worse all you'd have to do is Odin back to EJ06. Nothing would change with your phone setup.

yes and will try that i guess to see what will happen.

here is a variable, i started these tests when sun was shining and the a dark cloud moved in and well you can see what happened.
so prls are good and do help but i still think too many variables to say what is good and not good!!!!

I had extremely similar results. I started off pretty well on ~1300kbps and a dark cloud moved in, reducing it to ~300/400kbps. Also, I tried many, many PRLs, among those 12121, 12123 (new one from Sprint Corporate), 6xxxx, and 11115. None showed any improvement, but should I keep it on BST's 61007 PRL? Or would the Sprint PRL in fact help (when results show otherwise)?

i'm leaving mine the stock till i can see a change that is worth it, might try something but staying here, if ain't broke don't fix.
i grew up in trumbull ct and moved here to fla in 2000.

I have about decided that we all spend too much time worrying about these damn benchmarks and speed tests.

They do give us a methodology to quantify and compare and they are not completely useless. But, we are all over the world and there are too many variables to compare apples and oranges.

You can waste a lot of time screwing with PRLs and see no benefit, but it is fun for a while and some folks Will see verifiable improvement. Again, too many variables.

All these scripts can step on each others toes and slow stuff.down.

We all KNOW when our phones are running well and much is beyond our control no matter what we do. Especially with Sprint trying to get their network up to date and competitive.

If I can play a video over 3g with no lag that is an acid test for me. If I can multitask between 4 or 5 apps with no black screen, that is good. If Swype Beta can keep up with me without slowing me down while all this other stuff is happening that is great. Oh. Yeah , if I can listen to Stitcher Podcasts while multitasking that is good. Also, I never overclock over 800mhz. If I can do all this I don't care what the benchmarks say.

With all this in mind I cannot make much sense from the baseband speedtest.net tests that I have done but I know this.

Ej06 was a good one. I have had times with various Roms when I could do all that stuff I mentioned above.

FAwhatever was a piece of crap and never allowed any of that miraculous productivity to occur.

The new FE is a Good One. At least as good as EJ and I think it is actually better. I am back to being able to do all that stuff again. Maybe, not as often, but I still blame that on Boost.

But that is just my opinion and I could be wrong...

WELL SAID!!!!!!! that is what i kinda keep saying over and over on all threads.
you can do benchmarks and tests and look for the right spot or location and say this is great????
also like benchmarks people run a setup to test but is that what you run everyday, mine is. anyways said well!!!!! my speed tests were in my computer room, then the best ones were with phone on window sill, yeh they are great but not where i use my phone and works great in cp room so what is the diff????? just bragging rights i guess!!

Yep. I am not being critical of benchmarks or the fun we all have with them. It is great entertainment.

But what is important is that your phone does WHAT you require it to do WHEN you need to do it. I have seen times when the benchmarks results did not agree with the actual usability of the phone.

Benchmarks are just one tool towards that end, Not an end in themselves. Not in what most folks perceive as the "real" world , whatever that truly is.

i hear you, i now have done nothing really to my phone in about a month. no swap, ican do anything, surf web whatever and no lag at all. and for sevice it is intermitten in certain areas but overall is great. and most people mess with stuff and say i have forecloses and this and that won't work. the devs have always said they don't experiance most of the problems people speak of because most people screw things up and then blame it on the rom or kernel. so as long as you can get it working good for you that is all that should matter.

we all want to know if something works better to benefit from it.
and i guess by peoiple playing and messing around with stuff helps figure that out.

Excellent point. You can always tell the pioneers. They are the ones with arrows in their back.
