its the version that was sent out to davs and testers a month ago its not the real official download. you have to use rds lite to load it on your droid. it is not a update.zip file. ok?

yea. you can load it to test around though, i mean its virtually the same just without flash i thnk and the live wallpaper. but yea besides that it same.
 
go here MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service this is a nandroid back up of the newest tester version of the update it has kernels for some wanky reason. i remind you this is not an update or anything its a back up and you must be rooted. this is the closest thing youll see to the update till the update.zip drops or you get the update. this has live wallpapers no 2.1 nexus launcher (ill just use helix if i want five screens) it has all the pinch to zoom and all that. i can not stress enough that i do not want you guys yellin at me because this is not it. because it is not it. this is simply the latest tester that came out like a week or so ago. it is that plus a hack i supose.

If you're going to do that you might as well install a custom rom. No more rooting comments in this thread though, please.

I wish "madisonjar" would have checked the file before making clams that it's the "same as the one that was suppose to go out today" :mad:

In an essence, it is. It's what the update is based off of and requires a lot of work to get it on your. It is not the exact same as the update we are expecting, though. It is not worth your while!

all you have to do is use rsd lite and bam you have 2.1 , all be it, you won't have any of your apps.
 
Done with worrying over this stupid update. They should just let us manually update our phone instead of this ota bull that is a pain.

It is slightly different.. compare it's specs to the Verizon document about the OTA update.

As we move through the day more information begins to trickle in. The latest report comes from Phone Scoop. They were contacted via email by Spokesperson Thomas Pica. Here's the latest:

In response to reports that Verizon Wireless had suddenly delayed its planned roll-out of the Android 2.1 update for the Motorola Droid, Verizon reached out to Phone Scoop. Spokesperson Thomas Pica said in an email, "The Android 2.1 upgrade for the Droid by Motorola was deployed to a small number of Verizon Wireless test users as scheduled. It is expected the broader phased rollout to all Droid by Motorola users will take place, but not just yet. No date scheduled yet." This message is essentially the same as the one provided yesterday by Verizon Wireless. Users should not expect their devices to update today or at any time during the next several days.
