Help Won't boot or charge

vwsunroof

Newbie
I just got the phone tonight and started the process, turned my Triumph off(have already changed to $35 plan a couple days ago) hadn't tried to turn on Evo. I plugged into charger for a few minutes and the light went from red to green so I figured must be charged up or pretty close. I swapped phones on the account and all looked good so I tried to turn on Evo. It turned on for a few seconds and got to the home screen and said "no service" then shut down like it had no battery left. Now it won't charge it seems. When I plug it in it shows red light for a few seconds then it goes off for a few seconds then it comes back on for a minute or so then turns green. It has no response to button presses. I guess it goes back tomorrow.

I have tried all kinds of button combinations. vol - and power, vol - and + and power, camera and power, etc and taken battery out between tries, held power with battery out. Maybe it's just a really dead battery or one with a dead cell. At this point I just boxed everything back up. I hope they still have some left tomorrow as it took a while to find one.

Edit: Oh and I tried the triumph charger and a samsung charger even a verizon cigarette adapter. I was hoping one of the button combos would work but didn't do much except make charge light go off when pressed.

You have a lemon. Go ahead and ask the store to exchange it. If they won't help (they should tho), call VM and tell them what's up

If it shows a red dot then it isn't charging or you didn't put battery in right. When it is charging it is orange not red and green when full charged red means something is wrong.

Lol orange and red are so close. They should've had a yellow led for charging.

i would guess it is a completely dead battery. a flaw in htc design...will not show a indicator if battery is dead dead. I would leave it plugged in for about 1-2 hours and see what happens.

did you got it form virginmobile website or the rs warehouse. if you got it form a store must liked some phones will have problems.

Hey, I am having pretty much the same issue. It all started after I sucesfully rooted the htc evo v 4g/3D and then stupidly whilst in the clockwork program, agreed to let it flash it's recovery.img, and now I can not boot, can't get into bootloder, no fastboot option, just red ligt for a second or two then off, red light, off, red light, off.

I am trying to find the STOCK RUU nut to no avail. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!!

chucking it off the roof helps...:D nah VM messes this up all the time it took me 10 triumph phones to get a one to work right.. Glad your phone is working. Also i would recommend buying a phone warranty as it renews every time you get a new phone (virtually never ends) and will allow you to get replacement batteries and (sometimes) chargers too...

No need to buy a warranty, 1 year warranty is included. Considering what the phone costs, along with the $5 a month plus $100 deductible insurance on the phone makes little sense.
