Root [MOD]Superwipe

This made my day. Thanks a bunch. With my OG Evo I always flashed super wipe three times, then wipe a couple other things three times each. Using Amon Ra.

Will I be able to flash this one once then flash a ROM?

From the OP on XDA:

This zip will wipe /data /system /cache and /devlog. Dalvik-cache is stored in /data so it gets wiped with /data.
It will then reformat those partitions optimally, which should give a slight increase in filesystem speeds. YMMV, seems to be a definite improvement for me, but could be placebo.

Credit for the Format options to TrevE as noted in the zip file.

Note: This is a COMPLETE ROM wipe. The only things it really leaves alone are /boot and your SD Card(s). I recommend using this before flashing a new ROM.

Also if using TWRP, under settings, tell it to use rm -rf for restores, or it will overwrite the format options that are set up.

So you should be fine to just flash this and then your ROM

I'm ready to flash a ROM now, but wondering if there's a custom wipe script available like what we used to have on the original EVO (KingsMod FormatAll, etc). I had a ritual before, I'd run a manual wipe of factory reset, dalvik, cache, and sd_ext 3 times each, as well as King's 3 times each, just to be safe. Wondering if there's a wipe flash available on the LTEvo or if I should just do everything manually via TWRP?

OK so in order to use this i just move it to the root side of my sd and flash it like a ROM. It cant be that easy can it? :p

Yes. Yes it can. :)

As long as your recovery recognizes the file, choose to install the superwipe script. It'll wipe the appropriate partitions several times. We used it on the OG as a knee jerk reaction to CWM recovery not wiping properly. ;)

so, not sure if im missing something but can't you just manually whipe cache, dalvik, and data and be just as good????

what is the TRUE advantage of this???

This is also supposed to "optimally format the partitions" for best performance.

If nothing else, its good to run the script just to make sure everything gets wiped very well. The cleaner the phone is before you flash the better.

I also wipe all the required things manually once, and then run the superwipe

i'm glad this thread got bumped. i would not have known there is one for the our phone now. awesome. i used this regularly on my old og evo. gonna add this to my flashing routine.
You didn't check the root sticky well enough I guess, ocn ;). In your degense, you were a little late joining the game though :). It sure is a useful MOD tho!

I'm in hboot on a bricked HTC One S Where are the instructions to use superwipe? My phone won't boot to system or enter any recovery that i flash I was hoping to do wipes through fastboot with superwipes Please help

OK folks, superwipe is here. ;)

This is not mine, read the OP here:
[MOD]Superwipe - xda-developers

This is a flashable wiping script you run through recovery. We had it on the OG and the 3vo. Works nicely to give a really clean slate for flashing new roms. :)

Superwipe is not going to help at all with that.

Mind if I ask about your recovery?

Where did you get it and did you check the md5 sum before flashing?

How did your phone get this way?

Can you get to hboot?

Have flashed different versions of twrp that were supposed to all be for my phone downloaded from teamwin's site No i didn't check md5 sum but I don't think it's necessary since I dl'd from the team win's site The phone was like this when I got it Yes I can get to hboot I've run an ruu many times it always says success but then the phone doesn't boot My feeling is i need to do wipes before running the ruu

Wipes are not going to get to the partitions below /boot. It won't get to the recovery partition.

The point of doing md5 checksums is to ensure that the download is correct - and isn't dependent on the download coming from a good site. You've got an entire network between you and their server.

In any case, superwipe is a myth leftover from days of buggy recoveries.

Did you relock the device before doing the RUU?

If you did all of that correctly then it's possible that the previous owner tried to flash something not made for your phone and now the partitions are completely hosed.

Sorry but there it is.
