***Official HTC Incredible Thread***

I know of only two htc phones which haven't been officially announced (Incredible and Supersonic) and if Verizon is getting phone shipments, and it's been widely reported that Google is keeping their same distribution model for the VZW N1, they aren't gonna just order phone inventory and sit on them. Also, N1 has yet to show up in the VZW inventory according to our VZW moles, so it's more likely that the HTC shipment is Incredible than N1.
But what if they announce the supersonic:(? And why don't they have a crying emoticon? I am totally with you on the shipment. I just know we have mixed info on release. Several say two weeks and two (I think) say a little later.

I requested my GV about 3 1/2 months ago...and still waiting!

Just wanted to say love this thread! Been waiting for the Incredible for months, and just hearing the name and everyone talk about it gets me a little excited, if you know what I mean!

this article has the updated specs:

HTC Incredible dropping on Verizon in two weeks

• 1 GHz Snapdragon processor QSD8650
• 3.7 inch AMOLED screen WVGA resolution
• 6 GB ROM, 1 GB RAM
• 8 MP camera with dual LED flash and AF
• Android 2.1 with Sense UI
• Optical track pad
• 1300 mAh battery
• Shipping with 8GB MicroSDHC card
• FM Tuner
• Dimensions: 117.5 mm (L) x 58.5 mm (w) x 11.9 mm (T)

A couple of rumors (that didn't originate from this forum) are adding up to a CTIA announcement for the Incredible. Just wanted to help calm those who have fears, that CTIA will come and go without any Incredible news.
1. HTC is shipping phones to Verizon
2. HTC confirms unnamed phone announcement
3. The Incredible has been in Verizon's inventory list since Late February

Just want to point out that the article linked in No. 2 says HTC will announce "AT LEAST one device next week at CTIA"

The article then cites official CTIA materials in a quote that says "HTC will be showing A NUMBER of new and favorite HTC devices..."

As I read the article, it's not limited to either Incredible or Supersonic; it could be both.

Does anyone know if there has been a Supersonic FCC filing.....I did a quick search and couldn't find anything. Would HTC announce a phone that hasn't received FCC approval?

No, I think it was discussed earlier today that Supersonic has not yet gone through FCC.

I read it differently. To me the "new and favorite" part would mean Hero, Eris, Nexus One, Desire, etc. Phones that have already been announced some of which are newer then others. Then it says that "AN unnamed DEVICE that will be unveiled...". To me thats one phone. That one phone should be the Incredible.
But to your point it may be something that the article in question is only talking about what HTC will do and hence may not be counting the Sprint press event which will most likely involve the Supersonic. its my understanding Sprint will have a big honcho there, but no one else was mentioned and certainly not anyone from HTC.

I think the supersonic wont be announced officially till closer to the end of the year (sometime around or after thanksgiving) since it wasnt slated to come out till end of the year. The rumor of verizon getting a super phone like this has been around since before the droid was announced

well, i was gonna try to outlast the testman outage, but i guess i'll have to try that again in the morning....time for some sleep.

Any1 think its a possibility that the new name is the "Dragon" instead of the Incredible and they will be doing ads with the "How to train your dragon" movie?

Movie comes out on the 26th. Just sayin... it could be a possibility since At&t is one of the main sponsors for March Madness

Or was the dragon name already taken? Cause I know HTC has switched up a lot of devices names before.

Hey guys...all this talk about Google Voice is making me want to ask the question....would it be a good idea for me to go ahead and get a GMail account now....and perhaps check out and ask for a Google Voice invite before getting a phone?

I don't really know how much I would use the Google Voice features...but when I end up with an android phone SS/Incredible...it might be nice to have these things in place....yes? All I hear about Google Voice is positive comments although I'm still very vague on why I would want it. It'sjust hey...everyone says it's great...so I gotta get it...right!? LOL

Btw...I've been a bit puzzled about the whole idea of having just one number for all of my phones...I guess that's cool...but really thinking I won't need the one singler number. Of course, if I move...and there's a chance I could move overseas for a year...pehaps the Google number would direct calls to my foreign number without incurring charges...is this possible? Okay...I know...totally off topic....but this is part of the whole Google integration thing...right? :)

You can also get google voice to ring to a Skype account

Supersonic is supposed to come out this summer.

when the rumors of the supersonic first came out it was slated end of year then with all the hype the incredible was getting it started to get pushed further ahead. My theory is the orignal release dates where correct and the this summer dates where because of blog sites getting the incredible and supersonic mixed up or the whole why is sprint being left in the dark type topics and people going well they have to be releasing something new if verizon is and then got to small tech sites that are not that credible then to medium sites who posted it to the large sites

Yes you should try to get an invite now. You don't have to have gmail to get it but you do set up a google account. You have a choice between all phones on one number or the visual voice-mail. For some reason they won't do both.
Edit: Maybe they changed that last part since I joined. Anyone confirm you can do both?

I got a gmail account before I got an android phone. Gmail, Voice and Wave are all free so no harm in it. One number is nice if you have several contact numbers that people can reach you at. So now your friends (hopefully you're smart enough not to give it to family) can use just 1 number to call you regardless of where you are.

Well, I suppose it could be read the way you suggest, but "Unannounced" and "Unnamed" are not necessarily the same thing. To me, new and favorite drawas a distinction between new (being announced) and favorite (Eris, Desire, etc.). It's difficult to tell for sure because the article quotes an excerpt out of context. Since the title of the article says "at least one," I'm guessing that the author did not mean to limit the content to imply that only one new phone will be announced.
