Yes you should try to get an invite now. You don't have to have gmail to get it but you do set up a google account. You have a choice between all phones on one number or the visual voice-mail. For some reason they won't do both.
Edit: Maybe they changed that last part since I joined. Anyone confirm you can do both?

just set mine up. it is still one or the other - not both.
 
A question about rooting and overclocking: Would it be possible to root and overclock the Incredible to beyond 1ghz? I have experience overclocking PCs but not phones.

I remember reading somewhere that it is, but there is a stability issue. There's a threshold or percentage above that they consider "safe." I just can't remember what that is, or where I read it. Too much source searching over the past few weeks.

Yes, I've seen some rooting discussions where they've overclocked a moto DROID to 1.1 GHz.
 
Oh man missed the GV invites :( signed up a couple of months ago but still haven't been invited I hope they invite me before the Incredible comes out.
 
ok, im a super long time lurker...but i went to the tesman.verizonwireless a few min. ago and it said the webpage was unavailable, so im only guessing that soon "DROID Incredible by HTC" is gonna start showing up very soon... also i emailed HTC a couple of weeks back and got this response...

"I certainly understand your interest in the newest HTC devices. However, there is no device called the HTC Incredible that exists as anything other than a rumor on the internet. As such, we cannot comment on a nonexistent device. Recently, HTC has announced a number of new devices; information about these phones can be found at HTC. These include the Desire, the Legend, and the HD Mini. All these devices have been announced for release overseas in the near future, although their has been no announcement made as to if or when these devices may come to the United States. For the latest news, please keep an eye on HTC - Mobile Phones, Smartphones, Cell Phones, PDAs.

well, that doesnt mean something wont show up, i really do think somethings going on though cuz many ppl have been having problems...we just gots to wait and see
 
hahaha i just tested google voice out with my roommate and the voice mail he left me isn't even close to what the transcription says.

is it normally like this?

I know...I still have my faith. I just meant as of RIGHT NOW lol.

i think we all will, lol...i cant wait till my 5th period (im only a sophmore i hs) tomorrow, cuz i could use the internet then and check out all the amazing things that are supposedly going to happen with this phone tomorrow, like htc reps going to verizon and ads that might be on tv ect.

Well I have tomorrow off from work...so my day will be spent tracking all (hopefully all being A LOT) of the Incredible news.

And for on-topic(kinda) On Engadget they have a post about google pulling out of china:

Then they say: Better get used to the idea of Bing-powered Android devices.
Why if they pull out, would google no longer be supported in android phones?
 
Saw a few ppl looking for GVoice Invites....

When I got my Droid I requested a google voice invite, waited 2 days, heard there were people that had been waiting 2 months with no invite, and quickly grew impatient. The next day I went and bought an invite on ebay for $2 and it was completely legit, no problems.

It looks like they must be in higher demand cause they are a bit more expensive now, but I think I just saw some on there going for like $3 bucks. Might be worth looking into if you're getting as impatient as I was though.

Oh.....and once you get your invite and register you get 3 invites of your own to use on friends. I have 2 invites left for the 1st two people to PM me! :)

Edit: Sorry, gone now! Maybe the 2 ppl I gave the invites to will let me link them up w/ those of you that missed out so they can pass along the 3 invites they get upon registering!
 
for those looking for the wave google.com/wave then search for with:public htc incredible I got invited but that is the word from the starter.....
