Though it is NOT necessarily a bad business plan. Which seems like the better sales plan? Announce/release a new phone at the same time everyone else it (effectively getting lost in the pack), or standing out when the competition has a lull in news/releases?

Getting something out that people will buy and sign up for more data plans sounds like the best business plan to me.

If you can get the phone ready, why wait while potential customers lock in to 12-24 month plans with other carriers? I don't think waiting is their strategy. I think it has to do with testing and production.

Check my edits, folks (especially Kappy). I think it might help.

You beat me to the initial Wiki, Kappy lol. Check the rest of my edits for the fine details.

I don't want a 4.3" either, and fortunately we aren't getting it. We're getting a 3.7" AMOLED wih 8MP cam and lots of internal storage, according to people who have held it in their hand and posted pictures of it.

Really, so you are telling everyone that wants a 4.3" screen to go f themselves. I would rather have the option of both. The HD2 is barely bigger than the N1 and it has a 4.3" screen. I've had both in my hands and pockets and you don't notice the size difference except that beautiful screen. OLED isn't that much nicer than TFT and I'm not watching HD video on my phone since it doesn't do HD resolutions.

You won't notice the extra MP camera because the rest of the camera has the usual crappy optics and camera phone setup.

Internal memory is only nice to if you need more than the available 16gb microsd card. I'm sure some fool with bitch about app space, but they are just ill informed.

If you gave me the HD2 running android with the Droid's capacitive buttons I would be happy. Only LTE would be missing (and wireless N). At the same time I would hope that every carrier got a 3.7" screen (as well as 4.3") because I'm not going to be a fanboy and hope other networks don't get phones.

Wiki it someone lol, you may be right, I didn't know thats what it was.

EDIT:

WiMAX, meaning Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, is a telecommunications technology that provides wireless transmission of data using a variety of transmission modes, from point-to-multipoint links to portable and fully mobile internet access. The technology provides up to 10 Mbps [1] broadband speed without the need for cables. The technology is based on the IEEE 802.16 standard (also called Broadband Wireless Access). The name "WiMAX" was created by the WiMAX Forum, which was formed in June 2001 to promote conformity and interoperability of the standard. The forum describes WiMAX[2] as "a standards-based technology enabling the delivery of last mile wireless broadband access as an alternative to cable and DSL".[3]

USES:

Uses

The bandwidth and range of WiMAX make it suitable for the following potential applications:
  • Connecting Wi-Fi hotspots to the Internet.
  • Providing a wireless alternative to cable and DSL for "last mile" broadband access.
  • Providing data, telecommunications and IPTV services (triple play).
  • Providing a source of Internet connectivity as part of a business continuity plan. That is, if a business has both a fixed and a wireless Internet connection, especially from unrelated providers, it is less likely to be affected by the same service outage.
  • Providing portable connectivity.

EDIT: I'm still not sure I know what all that means lol

Does anybody know if there is an alliance that certified WiMax devices? There is a WiFi alliance for certified devices. This would give us an idea about a device for WiMax.

I use the below link for phones with WiFi.

Just joined the forum as I purchased an Eris on 3/6. Enjoying the phone, however, found this discussion about the Incredible.

Question 1 - is it possible to return the Eris to VZW before my 30 day trial period and then wait until the Incredible is available? In other words, does VZW discourage trying out phones and returning prior to the 30 day period.

Question 2 - if I get the Incredible and decide I would have preferred staying with the Eris, would VZW let me exchange the Incredible for the Eris? ( I know, that would be an unlikely scenario as I would most likely want to keep the Incredible)

Advice? Or just flame me for asking!

I thought wimax was "their" version of 4g. Sprint calls it 4g, even tho it is just faster 3g.

I am MOST LIKELY wrong lol. I apologize if I am!!

I believe you are on the right path. I also believe that the current version of LTE isn't really 4g either.

Clearwire, who is pushing WiMax as a broadband replacement (and I believe Sprint it piggy backed on them though I may be wrong there), said that if it came down to it the WiMax hardware could be converted to LTE via firmware.

VZE will allow one exchange during the contract period. Everything I'm reading, you will want the Incredible over the Eris, so you will not have to worry about the multiple exchanges.

I really wish this person wouldn't be allowed to post. It's a nightmare anything useful from this rats post. They keep complaining that new news takes forever to find, same goes for any rumors with some logical and factual backing, etc, etc when all they have to do is look at the other sticky thread. This post is composed of a no useful points and the rest is just a bunch of whining by some crack head who has nothing better to do than complain. This has to be one of the worse posts I've personally seen. There is just no control of stupid whiny posts on this site.

Well done my friend!

I wonder if all the hype that the Incredible has generated (thanks to this forum) will cause Sprint to launch the Supersonic earlier than previously expected? Between that and the HD2 and the Incredible that seems to have put a lot of pressure on carriers...

D'oh! I'm amazed no one else thought that. Excellent idea. Sprint directly announced the SS to push WiMax and 4G, and HTC or HTC/VZW announce the Incredible. Excellent thought, and very plausible.

No one? http://androidforums.com/451030-post8947.html
I don't mind slightly off topic posts. But the repetiveness is becoming a bit much. Everyone (no I'm not singling you out Yami) should use the "search this thread" feature. Its not 100% but still helpful.

Launch? No. Because that would most likely have the opposite effect. But they will announce it early even if it comes out 2 months later then the Incredible.

Hey, you guys, onlyever here. Before I get down to business, I've got to say good work on the Wave.;)

Kay, so doing a tad of detective work, I've gotten a kind of confirmation from HTC. Also, do you all remember Sarab Singh? I messaged him on Facebook:

Me:We're anxiously awaiting the arrival of the incredible. Thanks for the hope! (and feel free to Message me)
Sarab Singh:I will be glad to see my effort to be at last in your hands . I hope you will like it.

He works for HTC and has provided some information. Then, I remembered he lived in Bernardsville! A few pages back (prolly 20 by now) i asked that question. My best conclusion is that Sarab is our HTC insider, at the source for some of the very first leaks on pictures of the phone (Sense weather widget revealed location in Bernardsville).:D

Just thought that was something to note since he's been compltely accurate so far.

I have a couple of Verizon connects on the case right now, and I plan on visiting a few of my friends at a Verizon store.

This is the calm before the storm-- and it's HTC and Verizon at center stage, not BB this time!

Hope to update you soon with a SPEC SHEET!!!!! ;)

That is a cowardly statement. This forum is very well run and is very easy to find information. To isolate useful information, just quickly scan the post and look at the bottom of each post for people that have use the "Thanks" function. 90% of the time, if there are more a few people that use the "Thanks" function the information is of use. The post without "Thanks" you can skip.

THis is exactly what I do now, to skip the friendly chit chat and get to the meeet :) Sometimes I enjoy hanging out and reading a few pages for the community fun, but when I need my quick info fix, it is all about looking for 5+ thanks posts.

Wouldn't it be great if we could do a search option that let us choose to only read messages with "N" number of thanks? Hmm.. Maybe that is already a feature? I better go look and see.

Not sure why a lot of people are mad about a possible April 17th release date now being tossed around. That date would coincide precisely with NKT's estimate of "mid-April."

does anyone remember hearing about the motorola mirage/shadow? specs look close to that of the illusive incredible and im thinkin that verizon should push incred asap with a possible launch of shadow in late june or july. some specs on shadow..

*9mm-thick handset with 1080p video recording and an HDMI output.
*4.3" Screen with 850 x 484 resolution
*8-megapixel camera
*Android OS

moto-shadow-12321009.jpg

I guess that means the shadow would = this:
OMAP3630 - 720 MHz ARM Cortex A8 + PowerVR SGX530 GPU + 430 MHz C64x+ DSP + ISP (Image Signal Processor)

Are things still on track for roughly a June release?

and supposedly the camera is alot better than the droid and even has on opening and closing shutter..

just wanted to ask all of you what would you do if incredible came out next to this you would purchaseee???? haha oh and all info came from hofo cause couple people there already testing this phone..

incase i forgot...incredible incredible incredible

If the Supersonic is announced next week and no mention of the Incredible, I give up. I'll go buy a used Droid. What about you guys, what are you going to do if no announcement?

Thats the part that has me confused. What could be the convergence phone?

A phone that works on 3G and 4G and can use the features of both at the same time is the best that I can tell.
I think "convergence phone" may be an antiquated term since a quick google shows things like being able to handle more then one call or data and voice.
