So, I remember people talking about "rooting" a phone to increase the speed of the processor. Could this be done to the Incredible to increase its speed to over 1 GHZ, and if so, about what speed could it be clocked at?

Yes, rooting will allow you to overclock. The N1 (running at 1 Ghz) has been overclocked to 1.13 Ghz on custom rom's on a rooted phone. I will say, just as an aside, that the Snapdragon doesn't seem to be as "overclockable" as the Droid's OMAP processor. So far a 13% overclock on the Snapdragon vs. 58% on the Droid (550 Mhz --> 1.3 Ghz). Likely no biggie, just pointing it out...the Snapdragon may not be as overclock-friendly as other processors. But then again it's fast as $hit already, so who cares...

He was talking about a new subforum for the MOTO Shadow. Not a renamed Incredible. Slow down people.

Congrats...

Here's another report of the SuperSonic being released/unveiled by Sprint at CTIA.

HTC Supersonic Release Date Is Next Week – A9292 WiMax Phone Shows Up At Sprint – SoftSailor

Interestingly, the article references a link to separate article containing photo images of the Super Sonic, some which look eerily similar to the Incredible found on the Evergreen Sticky Page (see below for reference).

Given the red accents found in these images is it possible, as Anonimac reported earlier today, that Incredible really will also have a 4.3" screen after all? Perhaps NKT and Stericson intentionally misrepresented certain specs in order to protect themselves, their sources and their jobs so as not to give the complete house away prior to the official release? I'm beginning to wonder if Apang's source at HTC that Anonimac spoke with today wasn't in fact correct about the Incredible being the equivalent to the S.S.? Some interesting food for thought.

I heard a radio ad from VZW last night while driving home from work. It was curious to me that they discussed "smartphones powered by Android" but never once uttered the name "Droid." Considering the consistency in their initial branding for Android-powered devices, I thought this was a noteworthy change in verbiage.

Earlier, I posted my conversation with a Verizon rep regarding this. The only reason it was called "DROID Eris" was becasue hTc wanted to piggyback onto the DROID fame and not be overshadowed. The ONLY phones that will carry the DROID name are the DROID & DROID Eris & their respective successors. Turn to the Devour-- its called the Motorola Devour, nothing else. (PS-- I Did have to edit some of the conversation out to save space, but that's the info.)

Ok, then I'll throw this out there to see what response I get. NKT, can you verify 100% that it WILL BE named the "Incredible" when it launches?

feels like I'm a child waiting for Christmas to come with a "Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action Two-Hundred-Shot Range Model Air Rifle".

The photo may have been cropped to focus on the camera. who knows

don't forget "and a thing that tells time" lol

but im feeling the same way, my spring break starts on the 29th so if it's released on the 3/27 or 4/2 ill have nothing but time to play with it :D, and maybe a lab report :(.

Doesn't matter. It doesn't add up. The name "Incredible" is too hard to market. Too hard to protect, legally. And no where on the new batch of pics does the word "Incredible" exist. And then NKT drops a bomb - out of the BLUE, mind you - that we'll likely be seeing a new thread for a new Android device in the near future.

I'm calling Mulder & Scully...

Doesn't matter only in the fact that you didn't read what he said, and made up something different? Not so blue either, they were talking about the shadow. There were pictures and everything.........

Valium anyone?

No, what's more interesting is the lack of an optical track pad on the pictures you posted. That would make that phone NOT the Incredible.
Ah, yes. Good point, NKT. Didn't even think about that. ;) But why the red accents, which we all speculated was used to identify the phone as a VZW unit? You'd think it'd be yellow were it for Sprint. Minus the optical track pad and size, the two look eerily similar.

HTC (and others) do some crazy things with their development phones. Did you see a blazing white back on that phone? And did you see the several variations of the red that the Incredible when through?

All valid points, my friend. I'm just working on mysteries without any clues, as the line in the famous Bob Seger song, Night Moves goes. :D

I've always thought that the SS and Incredible look similar enough to be mistaken for one another. In fact the "dark room" video that was discovered back in the 30's (page wise) (found it: post #1573) and originally accredited to the Incredible is really the SS. No trackpad. This might have been concluded previously but since it was 130some pages ago, my memory is hazy.

ETA: Also, note the HTC SSD Test App. Might the SS also have moviNAND storage? Is moviNAND considered a SSD?

Several things here i want to clarify...my report earlier today wasn't agreement or my belief that Incredible will have a 4.3 inch screen, in fact, as i've stated a few times after that, i believe this was confusion on the part of the HTC rep between the SS and Incredible. Also, my source is not Apang's, it's kcoun3's. For the record, i don't think the two phones are related nor that the Incredible is Verizon's version of it SS.

I think Sprint wanted a WiMax phone and HTC made one for them, it just happens to be this year when a lot of their phones have these red accents. HTC has made WiMax dedicated phones before and this phone may be a simple evolution of what they've already made for Yota but with updated specs and OS...think HTC MAX 4G + Android + HTC HD2 shape

Yota ? HTC MAX 4G
