Just decided I am getting the Incredible, no matter when it comes out. I waited for the Omnia II to find out that was crap, passed on the Imagio, was set to get the Droid when the Passion rumors started up, then the whispers about this little beaut began. And now the Shadow talk is out there? Sorry, but I can't go through this again. Checking this forum avery hour, doing Google searches, looking at Engadget, BoyGenius and PhoneArena. I need my life back, and I can't keep waiting for "the next phone" that's coming out. C'mon Incredible, I need to move on. I don't care if tomorrow they announce the Pinnacle with a 5mhz Snapdragon, 36MP camera, Android 7.6 that gives backrubs and makes margaritas, you're the one I'm going with.

Yeah, at only 5 mhz, that thing would take a couple days to process any picture you take.

I live in a pretty populated area so I decided to head down to a large VZW store nearby. I talked to the manager about the Incredible. When I asked him, he told me that he had received a lot of requests for information on the Incredible recently. He was clever to not actually confirm the name of the phone (or even its existence, I suppose), but he did say that there was a new android device coming "soon." I mentioned the various release dates that we've heard and he responded, "Perhaps the date was tentative pending production and testing." He then smiled and wouldn't say anything more. I asked him if we could expect the "android device" in the next couple weeks and he said, "my *guess* would be April." He smiled again and would say nothing further.

Anyway, take it for what's it's worth.

I think we're giving the VZW managers too much credit and thinking too much about what they have to say. Hes not the Riddler, in fact, he probably knows less about the phone than we do.

Been following this thread since it first began and am totally hooked now. Going to pick up the Incredible as soon as it releases.

Keeping my fingers crossed for the March 27th release!

Yea I still wouldn't go off what the VZW store managers / other employees are saying. Too many of them have been "100% sure" only to be horribly wrong in the end. Still though, I believe like most others it definitely appears to be imminent.

I hate to give the one negative I've found in all this still, but I kinda just wish it was at least as thin as the N1. With the HTC HD2 being so ridiculously thin, it would be nice to see something else reach close to that, or at least the N1 even though it's a little thicker than the HD2.

I'm nit picking of course, but I just absolutely have pitted the N1 and Incredible against each other in the competition for my purchase. Recently as we got more solid specs that looked equal or better than the N1, and with the appeal of actual in store support if needed, my preference got swayed to the Incredible where as I was originally almost positive I would be buying the N1 and just risk the shitty support and glitches / complaints.

Only thing I've still found where the Incredible loses the battle is that its thicker, obviously just by like 2mm (according to current reports) or something, but still, spec vs spec it loses in that one area. This isn't enough to make me go N1, but you know just saying. I even got myself to basically ignore the other issue some have with Sense based phones of not receiving timely Android updates, where the Vanilla ones will get it right away. At first that one is what was keeping me leaning toward the N1, but I guess I just decided to let it go. I figure the phone makes the phone, updates are just extra.

I think the plain Android getting updates sooner sounds good in theory but then you look at the Motorola Droid and HTC Eris and wonder if that will be the case in reality. No matter what new phones will always get the newer OS first be it with or without Sense. That being the case the one hold up to updating a phone with Sense would already be dealt with on a new phone and that is a new version of Sense compatible with the new version of OS will have already been developed. Then is it only a matter of compiling the OS and Sense for the older phone and you got your upgrade. Also remember that companies like HTC are getting beta builds of the OS before it is even released so that they can work on testing and developing their phones and Sense UI to have it at least near ready when the new OS is released.

I signed up for the forum just to tell you I'm in the same boat. And to assure you that the difference between 11.5mm and 11.9mm thickness is 0.4mm, which is a whole lot less than 2mm. You probably won't even notice the difference, aside from the fact one is smooth and one is not.

If anyone wants something to do you can go to your local Verizon store and look in the trashcans behind the building and look for the ID #'s on the boxes ;)

just wanted to let everyone know, my google voice invites are sent out, sorry if i was out by the time you asked. and yes, they went quick.

I've been in the same boat as you, my friend, since early November and know exactly how you feel. This forum has taken over my life and I hope to get it back once this phone finally comes to market. Heck, I'll probably breathe a BIG sigh of relief when it's officially announced at CTIA and we can begin the build-up to launch day.

I don't know how long this forum has been in existence, but has anyone that's been here long ever seen a thread with this much enthusiasm, participation and interest? It's sounds like the Omnia II had quite a huge following before it was released, but I'd like to think this exceeds it. 10,000+ posts already in this thread alone and counting. Unreal!

It will be interesting to see a year from now after we've all had the Incredible in our hands for a while and have moved on with our lives what the following and build-up will be like for the next BIG HTC or other Android phone to arrive on the scene. Will there ever be a thread for an upcoming device that matches or exceeds the build-up and participation of the "Official HTC Incredible Thread"? Only time will tell, but as Android becomes more and more mainstream and attracts an ever growing crowd of enthusiasts, I suspect many will find their way here and overpopulate certain new smart phone threads.

A year from now when the forum is ablaze regarding the next new game changing Android handset we'll recall how fun it was to have that same sense of excitement and anticipation regarding the Incredible and look at those eagerly waiting its release with a certain degree of envy. I expect by then many of us will be bitching about the problems and bugs we come across with the Incredible and pine for the days we were here anxiously awaiting the next big Android handset from Verizon.

Just think, when our NE2's are up this time in 2012 and Big Red's LTE network has officially rolled out, we'll all be back on the cutting edge once again leading the charge! :)

so im guessing 7 home pages have been verified and not 11 from videos ive seen of the legend running 2.1 with sense ui (which is a big reason why im looking forward to this phone).
im hoping this will be the greatest week upcoming (Breaking Bad debuts mar. 21, b-day with money for incredible mar 24, release 27th?) even if i have to wait til early april will be well worth it.
heard rumors the ss will not be released til later this year which hopefully sets up the announcenment of the incredible.
for all those who harp on thier ne2 plan, you only have to complete 20 of the 24 months, you do not have to wait until the day you signed your contract to take advantage of this. check vz website.
currently rocking ( and i use the term lightly) the voyager and cant wait til unload this brick in my pocket for this sexy beast to show up all the apple fan boys at work. flash anyone.
one last ramble. what does everyone think the availability of this would be on launch day? will it be just us diehards or will i have to wait even longer if supplies run low. can you say sick day? lol
cheers and impatiently waiting.

I believe the first incarnation was started in October or November of last year. I've been a lurker since the very beginning and man is my patience is running VERY thin.

Bring on the INCREDIBLE already!!!!!!

I leave this forum to take my wife to chemotherapy and then to go watch my sons high school baseball game and when I come back there is still no new info. This is driving me crazy. I have never been so infatuated about a friggen phone before in my life. Cmon CTIA. Please give us some info.

The masses don't even know this phone exists and unless Verizon advertises the crap out of it and it's discussed a lot in the general media before its released I don't think you'll have to worry about availability on drop day. That said, if it launches on a weekday I may just have to call in sick as well, as I intend to be at my local Verizon store when the doors open to get it and then go home and play/setup the device. Rough life, but someone's gotta do it! ;)

I hope your wife's Chemo is going well. Godspeed on a quick recovery. :)

It's gonna be a LONG while before we reach 100,000 much less 10,000 posts. We prolly won't have to have too many more posts after an announcement at CTIA.....
Fixed that typo. Thanks! Disagree with your assertion that things will dry up here once the phone's announced at CTIA. I think it will explode for a couple of days following and there will be a steady stream of participation until the phone is released. After it's released many of us will disappear or migrate into other threads.
