Shouldn't brick it just trying to root it. What do you mean by bricked:confused:

Well basically i unplugged since it was taking so long and now when i try to start it up it gets stuck at the SAMSUNG screen.

I've done that over 10 times and everytime it gets stuck at that screen

Have you tried going into recovery mode for a reset?
Hold both volume rockers and power at the same time until logo comes up to bring up the recovery option.

Well i was able to go in to recovery mode and i did factory reset just in case and i was able to start it up but im still having trouble rooting my phone.

Got root, deleted bloatware. Thanks (: a lot... I'm hoping we can get a recovery rom to flash
How did you pull it off though? I've got my phone rooted & was able to FINALLY get DroidVNC running however my Cricket Samsung Vitality has some bloatware & fluffware I'd love nothing more than to get rid of in lieu of apps I'd like to have but don't have any room for because of apps like ThinkOffice (Who uses that app anyway?). It takes up over 8 MB of space in the internal memory & don't use the app

Cheers :D

OK, interesting............ I have read this thread all the way through.

I installed SuperUser. I then rooted. Then installed Titanium. It worked for a while. I then installed Root Explorer and it tells me I can't delete any bloatware because these files are read only.

Obviously I have screwed up somewhere. And I am pretty sure it is obvious to someone ELSE where I screwed up. Anyone want to throw me a bone?

Your help appreciated before I even receive it.......... :D

For root explorer you changed it here to r/w:confused:

You are confirmed rooted yes? As you said TB was working.

I just installed Root Explorer & Titanium just now & am now going through the memory card but if there's one thing I've learned, that is the backup server should either be online or ON THE PC SIDE & NOT just another app on GP. This way, files can be transferred either automatically or via wizard, if not a combination of both (I submitted this in my review of Titanium BTW)

I say this because I tried backing up 9 Innings Pro Baseball 2011 (I plan to upgrade to a new phone & want to save my current season) without downloading the server app from GP (I know - Dumb move!) & all it did was take up the space (And then some!) I had freed up when I uninstalled & deleted ThinkFree Office (Nearly 9 MB of space)

I then tried uninstalling Calendar (Because I don't need or use it). This caused the phone to reboot. No surprise since it's a system app BUT I had to learn somehow (Better to do that than to try to remove some file vital to the functionality of the OS) :)

Otherwise GREAT apps :)

Now if I can just get that 9 MB back again, I'd really be a happy camper :)

Cheers :D

You have to press that to have r/w access -I did not prior to taking that pic:)

Some people are slow...........

<-------------this guy is slow. Started deleting stuff. Have an opinion on installing a new ROM?? Still not getting the space I want on the internal drive to speed up the phone.

samsung admire sch r720 I have read all the threads and have done everything according to instructions. Besides superuser which does not have a current bu update that works for my phone apparently, is their another app that will root my phone properly.

not that I've seen. This is the only easy way to root your phone.
Only issue I ran into is that it didnt install superuser.apk. but I just rebooted and manually installed it.

Sorry I am new to the whole smartphone scene. Hats off to the people who worked on this exploit!

Im on a macintosh and the files in the archive are:

adb.linux
adb.osx
admire_root.sh
su
superuser.apk

Which of these do i click to make it work? I dont see a file named run.sh :(.

Thanks!

EDIT:

I tried running admire_root.sh through the terminal but nothing happened. Phone is in debug mode with usb storage on.

I am getting this too and I am not able to root my phone. Can you tell me what you did to root it?

Can anybody help me root my phone? I have been trying for a while and have not been successful. I am using a mac and I only get the files stated above. The only one I am able to run is the su. It opens and says this:

admins-macbook:~ admin$ /Users/admin/Downloads/admire/su ; exit;
-bash: /Users/admin/Downloads/admire/su: cannot execute binary file
logout

[Process completed]

My phone is in debugging mode with mass storage turned on, and I have already downloaded super user. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the one-click root. Everything went well. I have installed Titanium backup and backed up all my programs. I then deleted all the Metro programs that I do not use, but I didn't gain any internal memory space? I even checked in system/apps folder and all the metro apk files are gone. I only have about 22 megs of space. About same amount I started with.

For those of you concerned about bricking your phones, you could always flash clockworkmod via odin/download mode and then do a nandroid backup before rooting. You can restore it afterwards should you brick it.

Dont forget to turn off your virus scanners before running this root.

I have no idea why some of you are transfixed on removing bloatware. Firstly any improvements to system performance will be minimal or none at all. It will do nothing more than free up some space on a system drive that most of you will never install anything to (as you can only do it through adb commands). Additional if you dont run the app its unlikely to running in the background and therefore using cpu, system memory. If it is or you simply dont want the app to appear in your app list you can download nobloat and put it in the disabled list. There are also other apps that will block it at start up. I think one was called startup manager, I prefer nobloat though. Remember some bloatware is installed in your data folder in which case you can simply remove this through the application manager, this space is useful as youll need it for installing your chosen apps.

Did anyone ever make an unroot for this?

listen, for those of you that were having problems with rooting because once the phone reboots, it constantly hangs and vibrates and seems to vibrate pass 15 minutes while you just sitting their looking stupid, i found the solution, since no one answered your questions, as usual.

If your phone keeps vibrating after the reboot and is stuck on the samsung screen, this should not be happening at all. Once it reboots, it should go right into the normal process as always when you cut on your phone.

Here is the solution to the problem

after you activate run.bat, and the dos screen comes up, and it says you may have errors bla bla, once it gets to the last sentence hit any key to continue, i want you to immediately unplug your phone from the computer.

Thats it!

Then this is what i did,

i went to the play store or app store, i downloaded

1. Root checker
2. Super user free
3. Busy box
4. Titanium backup

i installed 2,3, and 4 first, then i ran root checker and it was perfect.

Done!

Now that is how you answer questions on a forum.

Once again, your phone will reboot, and as soon as the dos screen says click any key to continue, immediately unplug your phone from the computer.

So if you have tried it, its constantly vibrating, just unplug it, run the run.bat again, then this time do what i said above
