Root Triumph charges while off but not while on (HELP)

My MT charges while turned off but when I turn it on it don't charge. My USB doesn't show or let me connect to the sdcard on my PC either. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Also this happened right after I flashed stock sharp for the triumph version 4.

Hate to break it to you, But the Triumph is a Lemon phone. That means so many things can/probably will go wrong with it. I have a Triumph aswell and mines does the same thing. I've noticed that SOMETIMES luckily placing the USB in slowly triggers the charge. But otherwise The phones messed up. As much as i Love android, I see myself getting the iPhone 4S on release.

that is very odd.....i never had an issue like that...u should try unplugging phone...then plug it back in..if not, then turn off the phone and pull the battery and wait for 30 seconds. put the battery back in and turn it on. plug it in and see if problem is still there.

If I were you I would backup, then start with a fresh install of Ver5 that I just posted and see if that takes care of your problem. If not then try a different ROM and see if that fixes the issue. It could be a hardware issue the charge ports are known to go out on these phones. I have never had a problem charging. You can go into Settings>About phone>Status when it is plugged in and see what it says under Battery status.

Does your computer show the phone connecting? I'm running the same ROM and mine is charging right now. I know the charging process is an active process. It may be like BSydz said, could be a ROM error.

Also could be your usb cable going out coincidentally with the new ROM, particularly the stock usb cable that came with the phone. My triumph developed a charging issue about 3 months after I got it. Tried 6 diff usb cables before one from my camera worked 100% reliable, everytime.

I suppose that could still be tied to the charging port on the phone tho, as has been stated before, they are known to be faulty.

Ok i got it but its kind of weird i flash a cm7 rom because flashing a froyo rom wouldnt help and the cm7 rom fixed it. I mean i can decompile apks edit them and such so i have a little know how with android but this is one of the crazyest things ive ever seen.

The Triumph is known to have USB issues here, mine cannot connect or charge on the computer, no matter what ROM I use. This is probably a port issue, not a software issue.

glad to see its all working again, just a tid bit of info from what ive seen, i never assume when it doesnt connect to the pc that its the phone, ive had my pc do it to me dozens of times, where ill need to restart my pc once or twice and then bing it insta connects

again just a something ive personally noticed

You provided an anecdote, a story, as evidence that the phone is a lemon. I can do just the same (and probably even a bit better) by claiming that, since I've had my Triumph since before it even officially released (got mine from best buy on 7/18/11, release was 7/20/11) and since I've had zero issues whatsoever since then, that the Triumph is an amazingly stable, rock-solid phone. Of course, as always in life, the reality is somewhere in between.

He already said flashing a new ROM fixed it so it's a software issue.

I've had nothing but problems with the USB port on both my original Triumph and the replacement Triumph i've gotten. It won't recognize when it's connected to a computer so I can't transfer files and it refuses to charge with anything but the USB cable it came with. It will pretend like it's charging when using other cables (charging light turns on, power monitors say it's charging) but it will never actually charge unless I use the original cable.

not saying this will just fix your issues, but sometimes the phone will not connect to a pc, because of the pc, if had many many times when i plug the phone into the pc and i get nothing over and over, then i restart my pc, plug it in and bing its there, of coarse it can be either the cable itself or the port on the phone as well

also i would recommend only using the charger that came with the phone or and aftermarket one for the phone, ive noticed with my phone personally that it not only pretends to charge if i use different cables, but it makes both the phone and cable so hot that the cables actually begin getting soft like there melting lol

ive used another motorola charger, a samsung charger, a kodak camera charger, and a i think its called galaxy note LTE charger, everyone had the same effect, after 1 hour the battery percent didnt go up or down but the phone was extremely hot to the touch and the cables were basically melting, which really suprised me cause the galaxy note LTE it like a phone/tablet, i thought it would work fine lol but i was wrong lol

It's not a PC-side thing, it's the phone. On occasion (and with enough fiddling with the USB cable on the Triumph side) it will believe it's connected, but will forget it's connected before I even have enough time to try to mount it.

I've not used anything but the charger that came with the Triumph, the problem is with any and all USB cables i've tried (6+ different ones that I have from over the years.) It doesn't heat up, it doesn't charge, it doesn't maintain charge, it just kind of sits there and does nothing with anything besides the USB cable that came with the Triumph.

I had the same thing (actually, the phone appeared to be charging when it was off but it wasn't)

I think it's a battery thing. These LI battery have circuitry in them. I fixed mine by plugging my battery into an external charger for a few seconds and now it works fine. I don' think it's a port thing

I know how you feel...

With the random quirk thing. My triumph is beast in all things except it goes completely "ape poop" if I try to play any music with any program. lol

I literally have a smart phone that cannot play any music files whatsoever without borking my phone.

And for some odd reason its perpetuated by using any kind of jack in the ear plug for listening to music with headphones lol :D

My battery actually did charge when it was off (sometimes), but like lanceg, my problem was fixed after the battery was charged once with an external charger.
