Rather than just give back your S3 and lose the benefit of the $400 subsidy (not to mention the re-stocking fee), definitely consider doing what a lot of people on this thread are planning on doing and simply sell your S3 on E-Bay. If you leave it in brand-new condition, you should probably get at least $500 for it, which will be a net gain of $300. Then use that $300 toward your full-priced Inc 4.

Y'know, I've been thinking about this.
:listen:
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if someone follows the above logic then you have spent $200 + tax and fees and are locked into another 2 year contract. You have $300 cash from selling the phone laving you $100 (-the taxes and fees you paid for the new contract and SG3) ahead. So in effect you are getting less than $100 off a full priced DInc4G for putting up with the hassle of buying a phone, then selling it if you can, then buying another phone (and paying the taxes on that too, and still being stuck in a two year contract.

That doesn't really sound worth it to me.:banghead:

Thanks, but I'll just buy it full price (or slighly used and discounted) and skip all that nonsense.

Now that the dust has settled on all this speculation about unlimited data and subsidized phones, I feel much more relaxed. I can now wait for this 4g3 to come out, go in and test drive it, then decide. Simplicity at its core. And no more contracts. Not that those contracts ever really bother me. Just pay up.

Last night I got an email telling me she could get $100 off a 4G phone, so we hit up the store today and picked her up a Rezound.
I got a better one in a Email. $299 off for a free Motorola Razr Maxx and it says in big letters "Keep your unlimited data plan"

I haven't been in a contract with Verizon for quite some time. I have no issue paying full retail for a phone to NOT be under contract.

Just curious. What is the benefit of not being under contract for someone who really has no intention of leaving Verizon? I know the current situation is just to keep unlimited data, but are there any other benefits? I don't really use 2GB a cycle, but having unlimited there would be nice. Who knows if my habits will change with LTE.

It's just my personal preference.:) I don't know there is any "real" benefit... It's no different then when the cable company or direct TV tried to get me to sign a contract. If something were to ever happen financially it's the last thing I want to be worried about, is having to pay a cable, cell phone or any other luxury like that.

It's the 11th hour and I'm annoyed. Does anyone think there is any shot this thing will be on pre-order before the 28th? I'm really pissed that I'm basically forced to buy this monster Samsung POS when it is absolutely not what i want... was going to do the whole switcharoo thing but now its just seems like such a hassle... they have legitimately forced me into buying this phone... If i was an HTC stockholder I would be through the roof.

Agree. This is ridiculous.

I have a Nexus and it's just too big, I certainly don't want something bigger. I have been waiting for Inc4g since April.

Verizon used to be the leader in android phones... now they are a follower, and are way behind the other carriers.

Where did my excitement go?

seriously i'm like half-mast here... will they give me a lollipop if i wait and lose my unlimited data?

Verizon should just hire someone to greet you at the door... "Welcome to Verizon!" and then just kick you in the sack.

And then say "Have a great day!" and rub their hands together when you turn around

Well still no Verizon 4G in the area and it dose not look like this will be selling by the 27th anyway. Looking more like I will be passing on this phone.

Maybe I should just wait for 4G and a much better phone and buy it right out and stay off contract. I've talked to a few the past few weeks who seem to like it better that way anyway.

Let's see what happens by the end of the day June 27th

droid-life is today confirming a july 5th release date.

Just tried the corporate store to find out if we can preorder and keep unlimited data.

They still know nothing and directed me to the verizonwireless web site.

"When it's announced, it will be there" "Don't know anything about Pre-Order on the Incredible 4g"

Seems to me they should make some kind of concession for long time Verizon customers......instead of releasing this phone 4-5 days before you lose unlimited data!

"Business sales" just confirmed July 5th....but there will be no preorder on the 4g.....

I lodged a formal complaint (not that it will make any difference).

I'd like that job. Where do I sign up?

I think you read his post wrong.

Just using whole numbers here without figuring in taxes.

Sell SG3 on ebay $500
SG3 pre-order now $200
Net towards Dinc4G $300

Not including any ebay fees, shipping, taxes, etc to apply towards new Dinc4G. So maybe $250 towards the new phone.

If you're due for an upgrade, this is probably the cheapest way to get a new dinc4 with keeping your unlimited data. Unless you wanted to wait for a few months after it's been released and prices come down or look for a used one.

Like someone mentioned above, under contract, not under contract, unless you're leaving Verizon, there isn't much difference imo.

At least by being under a contract, there are terms and agreements that Verizon has to abide by.
