Root EVO 4G LTE S-ON tool Discussion **Devs Only**

Yes, yes it does... the link I mean.

So, does this mean there will be an S back -on tool?

Not sure what folk are talking about this, in effect, restoring your htc warranty, they would still know that particular phone HAD been unlocked, wouldn't they?
The S-ON tool is what I want to know about as well.

I went and S-OFF'd anyway, though, just because ;). But check this out:

Now you might be asking yourself, why would you want it to still say TAMPERED and LOCKED at the top? But wait - it says LOCKED, and not UNLOCKED, which I previously was. You'll also notice the LazyPanda watermark is gone. I used the old hex edit trick on the 1.13 HBOOT to overwrite that version (I also removed the red text that displays on the splash screen).

But what it didn't do was re-enable NAND security (S-ON). I hope a method for doing this surfaces at some point.

About S-OFF, it's nice to be able to flash P75IMG.zips. Also a whole bunch of other things that I am too tired to type now. But about s-on, if you want to get back to it ...
I HAVE NOT TRIED THIS, BUT I THINK THIS WILL WORK.

FLASH THE STOCK HBOOT FIRST! Then do
Code:
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
while in Fastboot USB mode on the phone (Bootloader).

DO NOT run that command with the LazyPanda bootloader mod, it WILL screw your device.

You have been warned.

Again, not sure why anyone would need to go to S-ON again, I exchanged my S-OFF OG Evo for this LTE.. no one at Sprint cares/knows how to check/enforce it.

Great stuff, regaw.

I guess some of us are just OCD/paranoid about restoring a phone completely to stock when returning it. Now that I can do that, I feel extremely comfortable and confident with S-OFF :).

Thanks too for the modded HBOOT with the red splash text removed. I was able to remove it from my modded version as well, using yours as a basis (and Beyond Compare + Hex Editor Neo).

Mind sharing the hboot zip you used to flash back the stock hboot? I'm going to test it too then probably post the method.

I can definitely share it.

One thing though - you actually have to flash back to stock first to avoid getting stuck in HBOOT with a "Security Warning" banner. I'm flashing back to stock now from a PJ75IMG because that's what just happened to me.

So the separate zip might not be a good idea - at least not if we want to avoid a bunch of panicked noobs saying their phone is bricked while trying to S-ON .

I can upload the full PJ75IMG for the 1.13.651.1 ROM, if that'll help (unless it's already available somewhere).

That's fine, I think I have it somewhere. Don't worry about uploading it.
