Well, in the 11th hour (literally... it was maybe 15 minutes to midnight) I bit the bullet and ordered myself a Razr Maxx to save my unlimited. My choices were narrowed down to the Lucid, the Rezound, and the Bionic for a while, each for its own reasons, but in the end, the superior battery life, arguable future-proofness, and presumably higher resale value of the Maxx won out. I figure I'll come to terms with the larger form factor more easily than I would with matters of battery life, but that's just me.

That said, I'm not giving up hope on the Inc4g just yet; the CSR I chatted with online told me the same thing as a previous poster did today, namely, that exchanging the phone within the next 2 weeks would not invalidate my unlimited data plan. All I'd have to do is pay any difference in subsidized price (I used the Rezound as the example when I reconfirmed with her, hence I'd have to pay more - don't think that'd be an issue with the Maxx).

So I'll keep lurking on here for any news, especially if it's out next Thursday. All you early adopters, please share you experiences ASAP :D

i ordered the Galaxy Nexus, it will probably get here friday if i don't like it, i will get this phone

Well my only decision now is pay full retail on July 5th or wait a couple months and buy one a couple hundred cheaper. Big Red has made me wait 2 months already, so what's another 2 months right? But I really want to get this phone and try it out. I want to know if 4G is worth $499.99. Actually I did get a couple hundred from the wife on fathers day to put toward a new phone, so my out of pocket is only really $299.99 :D

I was going back and forth between waiting for the Inc 4G and buying a Galaxy Nexus. Looming upgrade to Android 4.1 does tilt a little more in favor of Nexus. I'm starting to think the reason Verizon has not released an HTC One phone is to wait for Android 4.1. I'll be living with this next phone for quite a while and am now thinking I may need to wait until fall for a HTC with Jelly Bean. :P

Today I'm going to go look at the S3 in a TMobile store. Guess I'll know if its too big or not later today. If it is, then I'll exchange it Day 1 for a Dinc4G, and unopened so I dont have to pay the restocking fee. It keeps swaying back and forth between not being able to keep it and being able to so I guess we'll find out July 5th if its possible to exchange and keep unlimited data.

I went yesterday and took a look at it. Not for me. Also found out from a fella there trading in a phone for his girlfriend that Verizon 4G went live here locally yesterday. Crazy! And still no sign of the Incredible 4G and the new plans are now in effect. :(

After giving this much thought, I think I will skip buying the phone outright and just get it subsidized. Take the 2gig tiered data plan. I don't go over 2 gigs, never have, and never even come close. Even if I did one month it is $10\gig.

So if I bought a subsidized Inc 4G at $150 vs. $499 full retail. That’s a difference of $350... $350\$10 per gig over. That essentially gives me 35 months of being able to go over to 3gig and only paying what I would have to buy the phone full retail. I think I will take that chance and say since I have only used 1/5th of a 2 gig plan on average per month, chances are I will not go over.

Here's an interesting question:

Say you are eligible to upgrade your current phone. Next week the Inc4g comes out. Instead of buying the Inc4g at any Verizon store/reseller you buy the Inc4g off of craigslist or ebay at XYZ cost.

Does buying it off of craigslist or ebay and getting it activated at Verizon store/reseller void your upgrade eligibility and/or plan? To me the answer seems no.

An interesting idea...what do you think?

As the terms are now, I believe Verizon will allow you to keep your unlimited plan forever as long as you never buy a subsidized phone from them again. In other words, you're free to acquire any device from any source and activate it and keep your unlimited plan (which would be a month-to-month plan).

Also your upgrade would still be available. But if you use it, youre now on their new terms.

My wife and I are on unlimited data. We pay $90+$9.99 for the two talk and text plans and $29.99+$29.99 for our unlimited data plans. Totaling about $160 before taxes and fees.

We did not renew in time to keep either unlimited plan. My wife uses under 1GB every month and I use in the neighborhood of 2GB each month. When we do upgrade, I expect to use a little more data because I'll be on 4G so we'll get the $40+$40 two phone and text plan and the $80 6GB shared data plan. This leaves me with plenty of room for growth in my usage (about 3 extra GB) for the same price.

I'm not afraid.

If I kept my unlimited data and started tethering for all my home internet, I would save a few bucks for a while. But eventually VZ would throttle my data, or even force me off the unlimited data. I don't doubt it.

DInc4G is still in the playbooks.

i bit the bullet last night and ordered the 16 g blue GS3. I was mad about it the whole time. Was promised up and down that i could exchange it for the DInc and keep my unlimited... basically everything i wanted...

here's the thing...

is it weird that i actually woke up mildly excited about getting the GS3? I've been crushing this phone forever for being too big etc, but now i think i'm going to give it a shot before i trade it in... bizarre. I think i just have a sour taste in my mouth from waiting and waiting (and I am absolutely an HTC guy, been waiting for a dual core HTC foreeeeeever).

Am i a bad person?

Well I got through all that back and forth, swerving, fence jumping, flip flopping crazy crap my brain went through for four hours last night. Did not use my subsidized upgrade. If I purchase this 4g3 full freight next Thursday I will be eligible for a subsidized phone I can sell on ebay sometime later. Woohoo. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Dinc4g3day. It is happening. Unless it doesn't.

No. Everyone cheats. Admitting it is the first step to recovery.

The math for me works the opposite way. Getting the 2GB shared data plan would cause a $25/month increase to my bill. Therefore, the payback period for spending an extra $400 on the phone to keep my current plan would be 16 months, which is well worth it. Plus I wont have to monitor data usage.

I'm not talking about going on a shared everything plan, that would cost me more. Just talking about going to a tierd data plan for my line only...

Oh wait a minute here, I think I am taking you the wrong way. So you are saying I can go buy the Inc 4G full retail AND at the same time by a subsidized phone, but activate the Inc 4G and just sell the subsidized phone AND not lose my unlimited data? They will let me buy 2 phones at once with one of them being subsidized?

I agree with ya... We can keep unlimited data for now, but eventually Verizon will force everybody off of it. It's just a matter of time. They will just say at some point, the next phone you activate you need to pick either the tierd data plan or the shared everything plan... It's the way they are headed. That's why I think I will just get this phone subsidized and deal with it. I won't go over 2gig anyway.

I actually believe the opposite. I believe at some time in the future unlimited data plans will return and be the majority of plans. may take years but this would follow the pattern of voice and text which went through similar situations. However, I still have unlimited for now.

Buying a subsidized phone requires a 2 year agreement. That could be on either (1) your current line or (2) an additional line that you are adding

In other words, buying a subsidized phone will jerk with your current plan unless you are adding an additional line.

No that's not what I was saying completely. If I buy full price now, I could subsidize another phone later during some sort of data sale. Then I could sell that or keep it as a mini tablet for around the house. You never know what these companies will offer. Double data, triple data etc. In six months maybe phones will be free on a weekend sale. Tmobile did one a few weeks back. All 4g phones were a penny.

Ya.. OK I got ya.. I thought I was reading into that a bit to much. Well at this point I am still leaning on... IF i get this phone, I think I am just going to get it subsidized and get the 2gig data plan.
