Are you getting one?

Taking into account the lack of expandable memory, will this ultimately keep you from buying one? For me it's not such a big deal breaker. 8 gigs is plenty of storage for me

Preordered the 16gb within minutes of them putting the Play Store page back online.

I think anyone who thought they would have more storage is delusional. Look at what the Kindle Fire has...and look at what they're announcing they're doing with the Play Store at I/O. Not to mention the Nexus Q.

This device is not meant for you to store a movie library on...it's meant for you to consume media you purchase from the Play Store, and get rid of it when you're done.

I'm not a media user and ordered one in a flash. My 10" tablet (HP Touchpad) is too big to carry with me, but I might drag a 7" along more often.

Yup, I'm going to get the 16gb version. Just deciding to go with the cover on Google Play, or a neoprene sleeve made for the Fire.

I watched the live stream and read some articles and must say, I am impressed! Jelly bean looks sweet... Nexus 7 w/ tegra 3 looks awesome to say the least. I am very seriously considering it. Problem is.... I am currently using the SGT 7.0 Plus. It has micro SD, rear camara and will be getting ics I heard. I just don't know if i can justify spending $200 on something my 7.0 plus can do most of anyway. I am considering it though. Btw... Does anyone know if they are gonna sell this beast in stores too? And if so, which stores and and when? Thanx.

7" is the perfect size to carry around IMO. My 10.1 Tab is just far too large to tote on a daily basis, but my Kindle Fire is the perfect size. The IPS screen is the only thing about this that makes me hesitant.

I am planning on getting the 16 gig version, but I have to wait until Sept. I am so excited about this announcement. I can't wait!!!!!!!! I do wish it had expandable memory, but really that is not a deal breaker for me. I have plenty of other places to store my digital content, and am fine just rotating what I keep on the device. Most of my digital content goes unused anyway, as I stream Netflix or Pandora instead of using what I already have.

Ordered one as soon as they became available. 8gb is plenty for me and I've been waiting for a proper Nexus tablet for a while. Also at that price.. I'd be silly not to.

Will be interesting to see what the drop to 7" is like reading ebooks, after being used to the TF101.

I couldn't agree more. Why load content when you can just stream it.

I think you nailed it here. Google wants you to buy the Nexus Q for storage and sharing, and of course to stay in their sandbox. Doesn't work for me though as I am always on the go and don't always have good Wi-Fi.

I got my Blackberry Playbook via the developer offering, but I still might get one to hae one. Just not sure where it would fit into my daily routine though.

Still on the fence.

I guess that is connection dependant. If you're out on a long commute, and no wifi available..
I just like the option to

Not to mention the hit on battery life when using wifi verses local. Using streaming is cool, but not having the option for local as well is not cool.

Once the practical reality of streaming hits folks when they travel or have poor wifi connections, the media app and media juggling will begin. Apps and media are becoming too big for such low storage. The N7 is not a tablet for most media lovers when they travel.

Also, the imbalance these devices create by pushing heavy streaming could result in more tiered data from wifi providers, down the road. NOTHING is for free.

Added: Nothing. Well, unless you are a freeloader..... That is another issue....

I already have a TF101 w/ dock but I just couldn't pass this one up. Kept popping in and out of the Play store until it wasn't just the GNex listed. :p Placed that order before I could blink. Even decided to be lazy and order the cover. I figured for $20, why not. Looking forward to having this in hand.

No sd slot is not a deal breaker to me because of the cloud technology and i ordered 16gb model too. Get a chance to experience the latest jelly bean early is priceless.

BUT do remember that ICS/JB do support USB OTG so just buy a OTG cable from eBay and you can plug huge flash drives into it for media consumption. I can plug my 64GB flash drive in my Galaxy Nexus and have a TON more storage.

I disagree. I've traveled by air before with a 16 GB tablet and found it plenty large enough to house all of my content. I had no wifi on the plane and the airport wifi was pretty crappy so I just enjoyed my local content that I had loaded ahead of time.

Not sure, now. I was totally psyched to get one at least, maybe two, if they had an SD slot.

I really don't give a crap about using the cloud for my data- Too susceptible to connectivity issues when traveling, not to mention the waste of bandwidth, and battery life.

I want to load a bunch of different stuff for the family and not worry about shuffling it around all the time. And $50 for an extra 8 GB of memory is a rip-off, which sours me on the whole price.

My big question is, will ASUS still be doing a 7"-8" member of the Transformer family? Or is that too close to competing with the Nexus 7?

Maybe I'll get a used Tab off eBay after the Nexi ship...

I think what this all comes down to is if you use your tablet on the go, or when you get to where you're going. I never took my old tablet around with me. It just wasn't convenient since I , like most of you, have a great phone anyway. What should matter is what you think a tablet is for. For me, all a tablet should be is:
-More powerful than my phone
-Bigger screen for multimedia content

Finally, it's not like I use my tablet for anything productive :D That's what laptops are for (Or transformer docks)

Sounds like that would come in handy. Presumably if the socket is providing power then USB powered portable hard drives would work too?

Kinda defeats the purpose of buying a small, portable tablet, but its nice to have the option.
