Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Hi peeps!

I am running Jelly Bean and must say that I am very impressed with speed and the nice new tweaks. I miss the navbar customizations of AOKP but I'm sure they will be baked soon.

HOWEVER, the first time I downloaded and flashed JB I had a bad download and broke my phone. I ended up having to flash a stock recovery image to get functional again, and it wiped EVERYTHING. Books, movies, app and ROM backups, pictures, text and contact backups, everything!!!

:(
Eeek - glad you got it back up and running.

I do missed some AOKP things, but not enough to not run JB.

Google Now is amazing - so intuitive.

I missed the Google Now part of the unveiling....what do you like about it? I have no idea what it is other than its something with the local weather when I swipe up on the navbar, lol.

Basically it keeps track of the world around you. Near a bus stop / train stop and it'll bring up a card giving you the next train/bus at that particular stop.

Itll show you your favorite sports teams scores. It uses search history and location to give you information, which is really neat.

Honestly my favorite part about JB is how soothing the voice is - totally better than Siri's robotic voice.

Hi folks!

My face is still numb from dental work... now my mind is numb:

JELLY BEAN ALREADY???

So tell me, folks: good & bad, is there any reason for me NOT to flash this thing?

I know I need to back up all apps & data in TiBU (Google Wallet data is still wiped), wipe data, system data, cache & dalvik for a clean install.

What's the story? I've never heard of this dev team but I trust you guy's judgment.

EDIT: Is this a pre-alpha or good enough for a daily driver? :)

Yup its a nandroid from the Developer Preview of Jelly Bean that was sent to the Google Nexus (Nexii?) given out at I/O yesterday.

I haven't had any problems with it and it runs like a champ. Super impressed by all of this so far.

I definitely miss some AOKP stuff, but I am sure it will show up in a new build we see soon from them.

Can anyone else with Jelly Bean back up Han's assertion that it eats up battery more quickly? I already get pretty cruddy battery life and don't want to make it worse.

Well, I downloaded the JB ROM I linked from RW. Backed up everything in CWM but couldn't find the ROM in the Downloads folder. Went to reboot and now all I get is the Google logo and no further. I've tried plenty of battery pulls and getting into recovery. Can't to the latter but can get into the bootloader which isn't giving me any options.
Anyone with any thoughts? It's pretty much stuck at this point. :(

Alright, got it loaded up. JRN84D to be exact. Sucker is fast. Miss my search button and some other AOKP tweaks, but it seems to be worth it so far.

Uh oh. That's exactly what happened to me this morning. Wasted three hours trying to figure it out, ended up flashing a stock recovery image via fastboot, which erased EVERYTHING on my SD card. All backups, etc. Gone.

:(

Had to root all over again, although for some reason it stayed unlocked.
