Siyah kernel - Dummies Guide

I thought as much. Therein lies your problem. You have used a kernel for the Samsung Galaxy S2, GT-i9100, on the U.S. Samsung Galaxy S2, Skyrocket, SGH-i777. These two phones entirely different and do not have compatible firmware, kernels or modems.

Bummer, I'll find the other and see if I can update it.

Thank you.

It could be me... but that looks as though it's just for the S2. One step up from v3.3.2 to v3.3.3.

However, I could be wrong, the way things have been going today.

3.3.3 still wont be 100% 4.0.4 compliant however (ie. camera/video/bluetooth) as Gokhan has still to get his hands on updated kernel sources.

3.3.3b!

Damn! only on 2nd coffee.

"update (3.3.3 -> 3.3.3b) removed some potentially unsafe changes which might be the reason of some users having problems with the latest release."

3.3.3c is now up

update(3.3.3b -> 3.3.3c) added ntt device gps support back. removed exfat related mess. added Entropy512′s patch to prevent multicast packets for added headphone amplification setting to extweaks (named it soundgasm). fixed data statistics and some other changes in config and sources…

Hey guys, long time since I've posted. Hope all is well.

I am using Resurrection Remix with the Siyah Kernel, but my wifi tethering does not want to work with any Siyah kernel after 3.3.1?

Even the new one 3.3.3c does the same... But when I flash back to the older versions the tethering works. Really frustrating as I use wifi tether for internet at work with my laptop.

Any ideas? Or is there a way I can install another type of driver? I wanted to post about this on xda but it seems I am yet to get the minimum number of posts to report it.

Thanks in advance.

SiyahKernel-S2-v3.3.3d

I'm still running 3.3.2.....is it worth the upgrade to 3.3.3d? I've read the changelog but I was wondering if any of you guys/gals have noticed any performance differences.

Gone are the days where an upgrade to a kernel would see significant changes.
Generally, bit by bit, each update will tweak and fine tune.
Some updates will work more for some than others.
There's no loss trying every time a new Siyah comes out. I always do. It is extremely rare for me to ever go back a version after upgrading.

Somewhere I rea something about it not being safe to do a full wipe from CWM on ICS unless you are on siyah kernel?. True?

Yes and no.
Siyah is 100% safe, but so are 99% of all the other kernels on the GS2.
The only known danger so far is if you have flashed ICS 4.0.4 (LQ5 or LPM)

I am flashing 4.0.3. So I am ok to do a full wipe and then get a custom ROM right?

It's not what you're flashing would be the issue, its what you're flashing onto.

what have you got currently?

I am on 4.0.3 right now. With Kernel LPG . So now the plan is to get a CF root kernel matching LPG and then do a full wipe using CWM and get the custom Rom of my choice.
Is it safe? Or do I have to get Siyah first?
