It runs a 4 inch qHD LCD screen, 1.2ghz dual-core snapdragon S4,
sense 4.0 with android 4.0.3,
1GB ram
8mp. camera with all that fancy HTC stuff
overall it looks like a worse phone than the SIII at same price.
BUT its HTC...

I don't see the "worse" part

4" qhd is smaller, but that isn't "worse". A full HD screen would be wasted on a 4" screen, so there's no point there.
Sounds like pretty close to, if not the same processor, just underclocked. No clear winner there.
RAM? Ok, Galaxy with 2. Pretty impressive actually.
Camera. I think HTC makes better camera software. Imagesense anyone? But with both at 8mp, no clear winner again.

And you said it with "...its HTC"
It isn't a contest. They're very different phones.
I'm actually surprised how many people jumped ship here for the SIII.

^ What I'm hoping (and thinking) is that the HTC will be designed for better battery life and to be operated more like a normal phone... most of these LTE phones these days, and especially the ones that are almost 5 inches big, they people basically wear the chargers around their necks! with extra batteries in their pockets :P

and the maxx is $100 more then the s3 and its slower then the inc4g.

from looking around trying to find some benchmark scores to compare.
the video posted above.

inc4g 1.2 dual core
quadrant 4221
antutu 5957

s3 us 1.5 dual core
quadrant 5059
antutu 6898

s3 int 1.4 quad
quadrant 5385
antutu 10371 ( seems high i think but only one i could find)

maxx 1.2 dual
quadrant 2700
antutu 6264

just wanted to compare some scores. i know they are not in the same group performance or size wise.
i think the inc4g holds it own pretty darn good here

It prevents people who don't need the phone to sell it for big profit subsidized by them. Makes sense to me.

True, you have paid their subsidized price to get the phone, but even though you sell it, you are still under contract for 2 years and paying each month, so really it should make no difference to them. They're getting what they want, what does it matter to them if you finish out your contract on the phone you had previously. The person buying is obviously not going to buy it from Verizon, even if it is open box to activate it and fulfill there contractual obligation, so it's not like they lost a customer. All they're doing is making sure you take a $50-$100 loss from what you could've sold it for. To me that's just being spiteful.

Now when people were apparently adding a line for a BOGO sale, then selling the phone and cancelling the second line (which is why some of these rules are now in place) then I'd agree with you. I don't even know how they did that anyway, unless they paid the ETF (which was low back then). But with the was things are now, people are not going to make anything doing that. Most who are doing it are probably selling it to buy the phone they want at retail if the one they want is coming out after the shared data went into effect.

Just something for everyone here. My brother (who's on my share plan) got an update on his OG Incredible that put it in a reboot loop. He called me wanting my account password. I asked him why and he said that he called Verizon to see what he needed to do to fix the reboot issue, and they wanted the password in case they had to GET HIM A NEW PHONE. Now as most anyone who's called into Verizon to resolve a phone issue can tell you, one of the first things they want you to try is a factory reset (which incidentally is what ended up fixing the reboot issue). Now their first thing they try is to get you into a new phone. Since I was half awake when he called I gave him the password. After I woke up a bit I relaized what happened and called him immediately to see if they moved him to a new phone, which would've moved him to a tiered plan. Luckily the reboots started happening so frequently that he had to take the phone into the store, where they did the reset.

So luckily he didn't lose his unlimited data plan (with our $20 a month discount), but he very well could've. The worst part is when my brother's fiancee had her phone get smashed, it took me around 3 hours on the phone working out a deal with Verizon to get her a replacement (manager upgrade), now that the new plans are in place, they're throwing away phones like candy.

So beware and make sure no one on your plans gets suckered into this.

Ok, so if I gave up my unlimited and went with a 2 gig tierd plan, what would I have to do to get in a double data down the road if they offered it? Get another phone??

I don't know that you could. The double data promos were for 3G customers upgrading to a 4G phone. If you're still on that Incredible2, you should be okay, but unless they change the terms of that promo, once you're on 4G you wouldn't be eligible. Don't know if they're going to change the terms once everyone's on 4G or if you're just stuck with either 2GB or go to a share data plan. I don't even think Verizon knows that yet, and probably won't know until a day or two before it happens, like usual.

Ah.. didn't realize it was 3G to 4G... Ya, still on the Inc 2... I am thinking more and more of just continuing to wait (Like I have been all along here) for somebody to buy one of these phones and not like it. List it on Ebay or CL were I can snap it up for a couple hundred cheaper. Looked on VW website this AM and still no phone on it.

And, of course, our online chat friends @VZW have no info on unsubsidized pricing. Today's CSR wrote: "Honestly, they never tell us anything until the day of for the most part."

I like when someone starts a sentence with "Honestly..." because that tells me what they're about to say really isn't a lie, unlike the rest of what they've been saying. :D

And there we have it. Finally. Anyone whos still getting it, enjoy your new phone! I'll probably take a look at it one day at the VZW store and see if it "wows" me at all

Yep, same here. If I happen to be by the Verizon store and feel like stopping in I will check it out. But I have no urge to rush out and get this phone anymore.

Isn't that about it though! Figure you might as well wait till you see it on VW's website...

Anyone else think we may see a shared data promotion for current unlimited customers to try and move us off. Maybe a double data or single tier upgrade. Seems logical.

I still think anyone who buys this unsubsidized from VZW is crazy. Why pay through the wazoo when you can wait a few weeks and get it much cheaper from an unhappy early adopter?

I think if you give it a month or two, you will see something. I think may send those of us with Inc and Inc2 something enticing to try to get some of us unlimited data.. JMO!

My plan.. Wait it out. I am not willing to give up my unlimited data for anything less then a double data promo or something. But to just give it up.. Na.. I'll wait... I've waited over 2 months already... I'll sit back and read the reviews...:)

Verizon is such a shitty company.... they wait until the death of the unlimited data plans to announce anything official to do with this phone, even though it was first talked about in March.... ALMOST 4 MONTHS AGO!!! HTC is going to regret being affiliated with Verizon at all since they will lose a lot of sales to the GSIII and it's a shame because i know a lot of us loyal Inc1 owners would have upgraded to this phone if Verizon had not forced our hands by choosing to screw it's customers and take away the unlimited data plans that it promised we would keep ...... I know after my next two years of unlimited data I will be moving to another company that cares for and respects it's customers unlike Verizon! (end of rant LOL)

I do agree with you, however, I one upped them by "pre-ordering" the S3. Since Verizon is typically delayed, I figured by pre-ordering I was holding a slot open to return it for the incredible (i own the OG and love the size) or the MAXX HD (though I think that much like the rest of Verizon's lineup is going to be delayed). I was really hoping to wait for the new nexus, however, as you pointed out, Verizon forced our hands. At least if they would offer 4gb for the 30.00 I might be more willing to switch... but I've been eligible for over 6 months now and could just return everything and wait for a 4gb promo later in the year...or heck, switch carriers. Either way, I got some time till teh S3 arrives. ;)

Just got off the phone with verizon. Unsubsidized price $499. If subsidized, my bill will increase by $14 per month just to keep texting but lose unlimited data. $14x24=336+$150(for phone) =$486. $499-$486=$13 to keep unlimited data plan. No brainer again. But much better then my previous calculations.
Plus no more waiting.

I don't understand why your bill increases if you go subsidized. If you have $30\month unlimited and just replace with the 2gig tierd plan... voice\text the same... You shouldn't be charged more. Just curious..

I think one of two scenarios for me.. Wait a month or two for a used one somebody doesn't want, or a double data plan. I think Verizon can keep my Inc 4G until that...

The new plans: 450 minutes $39.99. With texting $59.99
Data 2gb: $30
Total : $89.99. I now pay $79.99
Tax on that increase is about $4.
Thus $14 increase.
Could save $20 by dropping texting.

Same here. It would cost me an extra $25/month to get a subsidized phone on a 2GB plan. So also a no-brainer. It would have to be HUGE savings to get me to move from unlimited data to limited data. Theyre never going to get me to switch if I have to PAY WAY MORE FOR WAY LESS.

Whats funny is that if the prices were even in the same ballpark I would have just sucked it up and gone to shared data and monitored my data usage to stay under 2GB, but they pissed me off. They were so outrageous that I actually went through the whole hassle of buying the S3, selling it on eBay, and then Ill get the Incredible at retail price.

These new plans are so expensive it makes no sense for me to ever get a subsidized phone. I wonder how many people will be on month-to-month plans? Verizon cant like that. Companies love long-term contracts with guaranteed revenue streams. And as an added bonus, I can then leave Verizon at any time if something better comes along elsewhere.

I am still missing something here. I don't understand WHY you have to switch from your current Voice\Text plan to get this phone subsidized. You do not have to switch from your current plan. The only thing you would have to do is give up your unlimited data and take the 2gig $30\month tierd data plan...

I agree with ya, that there is nothing they are offering to me to pick up this phone subsidized and give up my unlimited data, but I still don't understand why you guys are saying you have to change your entire Voice\Texting plan. You don't have to do that...
