ICS: Tips and Tricks

Thats what I do use, but the only thing I wish is that I could organize them how I want
I guess I did not understand the original issue. With a new group, you can name it what you want, chose a specific icon and add/remove the apps that you want. I cannot think of any further organization you could want but I hope you find your answers.

I prefer it to most of the browsers I've tried. No flash support, but that seems to be how things are. Very fast and a lot like the desktop version.

Will try it, running Dolphin now and have tried about everyting out there. Thanks:D

Is there a way in ICS to add an additional home screen?

I was wondering the same thing. Also, I really like the GO Power Control Widget. Anyone know of a good power control widget that allows you to customize the options? Can't use the GO Power Control without using GO Launcher (or if you can, I have no clue how)

Weird - I follow your instructions exactly but after I click on app info the next screen has buttons for "Force stop", "Uninstall updates", "Clear data" and "Share", nothing to disable.

If you've installed updates, then you'll need to select "Uninstall Updates" first, then starting the process over, in place of the uninstall updates, you'll see the button label "Disable."

SwitchPro Widget...awesome!

I must be doing something wrong because I can't seem to export the VZW contacts; I would like to have all my contacts in Google.. Thx

Sorry I wasn't clear on this. You can't do it on the phone. I went to my VZW online account, exported the contacts to a file and then imported them to my Google account. Once you do that, "Imported" contacts appear as a choice to display in the Customize section of "Contacts to Display"

It's a bit convoluted, but worth it to me. I hate the VZ Backup crap.:smokingsomb:

I like Widgetsoid2.x better.

Many thanks. An invaluable tip for me! It works great!

Pardon my ignorance, but how do you export them on the my VZW online account? I have been trying to do that, but I can't find where you do it.

I need to know how to add my picture to a text message. Don't like the blank. Someone said to add yourself to the people area, do I add my name or Me

Thanks. I am new to this

I believe you have to use Verizon's backup assistant to move them over there.

I don't recall the exact steps, but you have to log into your Verizon Backup export the contact to a file and then import them to Google. Search Google for the steps - that's how I found it

I'm loving the ICS update for my Razr but I had a few things that I wanted to tweak. Ended up with the Apex Launcher (just free version) and it is amazing! Let's you set up a lot of things differently, has the scrollable dock, add/remove screens to however many you need, and overall customization of the widgets and folders made it even cleaner than before. Just throwing my endorsement out there for it in case you want a good launcher with ICS!

When I disabled it I wasn't able to get MMS messages...

Anyone else have this problem?

THIS! I want to know!

And, I've noticed an improvement in the performance of Light Flow, which makes me happy. The LED rotation is less random...

To replace the stock texting app in the lock screen with a secondary app that has been installed:
Tap Menu,
Tap System Settings
Scroll down to "Apps"
At the top, swipe right to show "All"
Scroll down to find Text Messaging
Tap on it
Tap Disable!

Now, when you go to the lock screen, your secondary app will show in its place!

Once it's disabled, don't freak out if you can't find it. It's at the very bottom of the "All" apps list!

I'm having the same problem. Anyone ever resolve this issue? It's not that big of a deal, but I'd like to have messaging available from the lock screen.

Found this on a different place tested it and it worked.

You must make Handcent the default for mms and sms in the Handcent settings. Click settings and then Application Settings and then Default Messaging Application.

Launcher Pro is still my favorite. It has been reported that launcher pro doesn't work with ICS but it does work just fine...... There are several nuances that you need to adjust to for ICS but they are minor.

I used the Thunderbolt app to go to CDMA only but now I can't get my 4G to come back on. What was the original setting?
