Help Custom SMS Ringtone !!

Hello , Please Does Anyone knows how to put a custom ringtone for the SMS on The desire z !! i can choose any ringtone for the calls but the sms i couldn't yet , so kindly Help !

Assuming you're using the stock Messages app:

Open Messages, select Menu/Settings/Notification sound, then choose from the list. Hit Apply to set.

Thanks dude , but what i meant is to put a special tone , like metallic tone for an sms tone for an example ! Thanks again

Create a folder called audio on your card. Inside that create folders called alarms, notifications and ringtones. Place any custom sound files in the appropriate folder to use them e.g. in notifications for use by the Messages app.

I just tried that but no luck. I just put the custom sounds (a bunch of Star Wars FX I got of an old X-Wing Alliance disc ) into the "Notification" folder. They didn't show up if put in "Audio > Notifications"

Strange, as /sdcard/audio/notifications has always worked for me. What format are the files? Also, I think that case-sensitivity matters with the folder names.

It sounds like the ring tone files are in a format not supported. When I moved a ring tone from my Nokia phone, it was not in the proper format, so it did not work. You could try to convert the sound files to an MP3 or WAV format.

They're mp3s, they work fine now. I just have them in

sdcard/Music

sdcard/Ringtones

etc

There are two ways you can do it. One way is to mount your phone as a USB storage device to your PC. Then you can use a file manager program on your PC to create folders.

The other way is to use a file manager app on your phone. One I use is Adao File Manager.
