Root Flashing Juopunutbear Hboot

For those of you who have done the S-off procedure, will remember that after the wire trick is successfully completed Controlbear prompts you to install the Juopunutbear Hboot..yes to install no to keep the stock Hboot..i opted to keep the stock Hboot but later changed my mind..wanted to flash the jp Hboot but ran into trouble because the download for shooter ics that UnlimitedIO provides was missing an important factor..

I ended up getting some sort of error and had to go to UnlimitedIO's IRC channel for some help, and provide them with a patebin of my output..

Thanks to Burgd from UnlimitedIO for making the updated zip for us..

Instruction's to flash the Juopunutbear Hboot can be found on the UnlimitedIO site..

Do not download the shooter ICS jb_hboot.zip file that they provide, atleast untill they update there links

Use this fixed jb_hboot.zip---------> jb_hboot.zip

the correct download will have SPCS_002 in the android-info text file inside the jb_hboot.zip

Just thought i would share this to save someone else the trouble :D

Link to UnlimitedIO's website with all instructions-----> http://unlimited.io/

I guess I should ask, what benefit is it? (I kept the stock one too...)

well someone with more htc experience then i would have to answer that in detail..my motives for it started after me and Leslie Anne were talking about the difficulty of flashing AOSP Roms from the 3d to the Evo V..it came down to the Hboot we use as stock..or the kernel that most AOSP roms from the 3d use..with stock Hboot when i tried to flash a AOSP rom it would bootloop and cycle back to the htc splash then loop again..so the new Hboot didn't technically fix my issue but now it just continuously bootloops without jumping back to htc splash..which i thought was interesting..So what true benifits there are im not completely sure..i was more or less testing..thinking its got something to do with the kernels from the 3d roms doesnt jive very well with our V

I went with yes right away because after the stress of getting rooted and s off I didn't want to have to go back and do anything else :-)

I did the same thing, however I thought that it would make it so a possible update would make it a lot harder to break my access. That was my main reason for installing it.

After all that we went through just to unlock our bootloader why wouldn't I want to replace the damn thing? Especially considering that the guys over at unlimited io are much more responsive to our needs than HTC ever will be. ;-)

After further reading I have found out that the replacement hboot has better support for fastboot write and erase commands. If you ever need the original bootloader get s- on, relock the bootloader and flash the RUU.

Agreed. After going through so many gut-wrenching issues with getting S-OFF, I also chose to replace the bootloader.

The instruction are confusing can somebody tell me the non confuseing way do I put the zip in SDK tools folder or what and also what's the wire trick do I need to do that

I went to the unlimited Web Site and followed the link to jb_hboot and that file has SPCS_001
files/shooter/ICS_VM /jb_hboot
I started at HBOOT Downloads

Edit
Went back and looked at the jb_hboot that comes with the S-OFF wire trick and it shows BOTH
SPCS_001 AND SPCS_002 in the. txt.
