Also, my Curve 8330 died yesterday and when i went to the Verizon Retail store in the Mall this is how the convo went down:

You didnt like the Eris (I had returned it)
Battery life sucked...plus i'm waiting for the new Androind Phone
Nexus 1? - That should be out by late April/Early May
Nah - the "other" one
Devour? Doesnt seem like your type of phone..
It isnt, i'm talking about the "OTHER" one - you know, code named "incredible" (acting all dumb)
- Sales reps looked at each other and while looking down at his keyboard he says "oh the incredible, yeah... just rumors"

This has happened to me like 3 times now where Verizon reps hear that name and their attitute changes instantly and get defensive and turn into Verizon Robots with canned answers. It's as if they are under penalty of death if they release any information regarding to the existance of this phone.

What is this? is the Incredible an Alien from outerspace?

I have to say, if EVERY Verizon rep in the country is like this then i feel for them man, to have to hold in this big secret and not tell a SOUL else they should lose their job? I mean, it can't be the BEST job in the world, so it's GOTTA be more than just lose their job. My guess is Verizon made them sign something that said they would be sued for their souls if they said peep even if they left the company.

Verizon. For the love of god, please let these poor people free!

This can be deleted if its already been posted, but this is on VZW's press release page on their website about Skype. Currently it's scheduled to take place at 12 noon PDT. I wonder if they'll wait until then before making any announcements on the Incredible?

WHO:
Verizon Wireless, the leading wireless provider in the United States, and Skype, the company with the software that enables the world

I must disagree. I live in NYC, and it's common knowledge that Verizon is the strongest network to be on. Not just for 3G coverage, but for simply making phone calls.

T-Mobile is known as being "the ghetto carrier", Sprint is known for lackluster coverage/bars, and AT&T is known for excessive dropped calls.

From all accounts I've read, a positive experience with Verizon is consistent in other Metro areas as well. (Boston, LA, Seattle)

I hear ya but the sales in iPhones despite the terrible coverage says different. Again, not everyone cares about the phone itself but the overwhelming number of people who purchase an iPhone despite the inability to use it to it's full potential is eye opening.

while we're waiting...

for those waiting on the final/official specs of the incredible before deciding between it and the N1, what is the one (or two) spec(s) that will most likely tip you one way or the other?

for me it's:

(1) does the incredible have the 8GB moviNAND, which I hope = some video streaming out of the box
(2) is the 1Ghz snapdragon processor underclocked

I see what you're saying:

The iPhone proves that hardware can sell cell phone contracts.

So if the hardware is hot enough, the majority of consumers will switch from their current carrier to nab that phone.

Yeah, I would fathom that's the thinking behind the Droid, and other hugely advertised phones.

If it's even close to the evergreen specs, nothing could tip me at this point.

I was basically going off of my personal opinion and what I have gathered from other forums. I rarely see people shout about their network but mainly their device.

In all honestly I just want to hear of a high end Android coming out. I would switch to Sprint if the SS is coming out soon enough. I have 17-20% discounts (voice and date) to the big 4 through work so regardless I get a good deal on the prices.

The one spec that would truly change my mind will be GSM radio support. I believe that its confirmed via FCC filings that both the N1 and the Incredible do not have GSM support. The only phone that may at this point will be the Desiree for Verizon if they carry it. I have not seen any FCC CDMA filings for this.

Looks like Wall Street is excited about today, too. Sprint stock is up almost 3%; VZ up .3%.

Will be interesting to see if AT&T's takes a dive if the SS and Incredible are both announced today.
