Help HTC Evo 4G LTE OTA update rolling out. (s-off/rooters do not take the OTA)

I heard from a sprint store employee that there will be an OTA Fix/update soon but they couldn't give me anymore info. This was about a week and a half ago. Anyone hear anything further about when this fix will happen?

I haven't heard anything about it yet.

Untill you hear something official, you can't really trust what the people at the sprint store say. There are usually some pretty fast OTAs on newly released phones as they iron out bugs, so its probable that we'll get one fairly soon.

I know lots are having trouble with overly aggressive multitasking, so I would guess the next OTA takes care of that.

Be patient. I don't mind waiting a little longer if that means the maintenance update would address more issues .

As a general rule, rooted phones should never accept OTA updates unless trusted devs say it is ok. Devs will bake this into their ROMs eventually but stock w/root people should hold off until it is shown to be safe.

i am happy the BT issue for in car streaming has been addressed. no more workarounds to do.

As for other issues like memory management being addressed - a quick glance suggests to me that they've solved kernel panics in a few places, and that's not a small thing, that tends to be rather impressive and explains why this is the first Evo taking so long for its first update.

We'll simply have to assess what other changes have been introduced - or which side effects from stated changes - before being able to say if other things are fixed or left alone.

If HTC decides to correct the multitasking issue, I'm sure the HTC One X owners will see it in a patch slightly before we do.

Anyone looking to root - do it instead of accepting this update, then install this update per our root forum instructions.

This update also changes the bootloader.

The update fixed my weather widget issue (73 degrees and thunderstorms, every time I woke up my phone) and my flickering bookmarks issue. :thumb:

mine has full phone signal but wotn call or text. Just did the update, hope that fixes it.

For those considering rooting

This OTA appears to break the S-OFF exploit and for unlocked devices it appears to prevent radios, splash screens, and possibly kernels from being flashed through recovery.



DO NOT TAKE THE OTA IF YOU PLAN TO ROOT

This afternoon when I was in the middle of typing a message I had a PRL update pushed to my phone, after that I manually checked for updates and that's how I found the OTA update.
