Root Phone wont root after getting it back from samsung

So, I just got my phone (Prevail) back from samsung yesterday and after it updated to FE16 I tried to root and it sat in odin for 126 minutes and only made it to the 5th step of the process out of 8. I shut down odin and unplugged the usb. Today I tried the same thing and the same thing happened, shut down odin and unplugged. Now I went to try it again and theres no download mode. The screen just has some squigglies on it. I havent checked again but does anyone know what might be happening? Im kinda scared to mess with it anymore without some help since my phone was in texas at samsung for 24 days and boost barely wanted to give me a months credit for service. Can someone give me some pointers on this? Thanks very much in advance

Its hard to believe that in 27 views noone has any knowledge in this kind of problem. Has this new update got everyone spooked? I am willing to go back to ej06 or whatever to get my phone back like it was before it took a dump on me last month. I havent even done anything to it yet except sync my gmail cuz Im not gonna even be using it like this. I need to be rooted like I was. I have intermediate knowledge of flashing roms etc. Ive been on this site for almost a year and learned alot so far.

If you do not have downloading mode, unfortunately, there isn't anything that can be done for you.
Odin is a powerful tool and if you just unplug it/close it at the wrong time bad things can happen.(even to good people :( ) It would appear the partition containing downloading mode has become corrupt.

Maybe using a USB jig to put into download mode may work? Of course that assumes Lordvincent 90 isn't right about the phone partition being corrupt.

Thanks, you were alot of help in getting me started last year and I appreciate it very much. The whole download mode is almost unseen. Its like its not even there but I can see a faint light in the background but have to take my battery out and reboot to be able to get the phone back on. It still works but I cant get the control you showed me by rooting and using CWM and all that. Is there any hope since my phone still works? Samsung says they will expedite a repair this time. I told them that I was having problems after getting it back yesterday.

and 126 minutes in odin too, using it properly. I really didnt think it was working right. It took 5 minutes and 30 seconds to root before

it is in warranty but they gave me 90 more days now. Sept 3rd was when it came up so its really like an extra month since its 90 fromthe repair date

what is a usb jig? Hes the one who helped me into this last year so I have to assume that by now hes alot more knowledgable than he was then and he was pretty good back then ha ha

If Odin doesn't see it, then there is no way to get cwm. (or su) Best of luck bro

Ill take my chance and send it back in. Ill post up when I get it back. It just died completely again. 126 minutes??? I just dont understand why it would take that long to root. I even followed the step by step guide in the sticky and placed the ops. phone and pda tar in odin. Shoot I remembered that much without using the guide but wanted to be safe. The one package box wasnt checked neither:( Thanks though LV

Could be other things. Damaged cord. Connection got jiggled. Battery died. Not saying you did it wrong... Just that something went horribly wrong...

i wonder if anyone who updates to that version with stock if boost put something in there to do that? would like to know if someone who updated system to that on stock and then tried to root phone if that happens. i guess not maybe i'm thinking into it too deep.

Actually I did think of that and its really not thinking too deep. Thats exactly what I did. Next time Im sticking with what it has when I get it back. Thats fa19 I think. I had ej06 before. I got calls to make now. Ill be back on in a few

well you can use fa16 or whatever it is, just use the odin one that is supplied by our devs here, not the one boost sends out. and upgading to that before rooting might not have anything to do with it anyways. like LV said could have been a bad cable or anything that caused that to happen, so many variables.

So, I hear that there are issues with rooting now from fe16. Can someone please direct me to the link that describes this problem and how to counter it. I am interested in rooting my phone safely this time. Any help is appreciated. Thanks to all the devs out there.

Its been fine since I got it back. I agree that they suck but I cant afford to get a new phone right now and they sent me a new battery so if it happens again Ive already been told that replacement is the only option. I went a long time without a phone but in the end they sent me a battery and overnighted my phone. I was the one to mess it up in the first place and they couldnt power the phone on even to se that it was rooted so actually Im lucky I didnt put myself out of a phone for a while. I learned my lesson and got a pro on the other end with me and he hooked it up. Thanks Lordvincent 90 lol. Youre a good guy
