I just read an article that stated the kernel source for the Evo 4G LTE was just released, obviously that phone was released at around the same time as ours so hopefully we won't have to wait much longer. " fingers crossed "
Thank you for contacting HTC regarding Kernel Source code. I know that this code is important to the development community and I will be happy to assist you with the correct information regarding this.
HTC will release source code in accordance with any applicable open source license terms, i.e. GPL v2.0. HTC will typically publish on Welcome to HTCdev or htcdev.com the Kernel open source code for recently released devices as soon as possible. HTC will normally publish this within 90 to 120 days. This time frame is within the requirements of the open source community. Other source codes, which are not required to be disclosed by the open source license terms, unfortunately cannot be disclosed by HTC as they may be proprietary to HTC or its licensor.
I asked via HTC dev.. this was my response.
So... I guess the message out of this is "soon."
That is the same response they usually give. Really, it will be released when they choose to release it, and sometimes that takes a few months.
They just released evo 3D source codes for ICS....but the region is europe and what I assume is turkey. Not sure if we can use that.
Does the source have to be carrier specific or would we be able to use the Evo 3D Sprint ICS version?
I'm pretty sure under gnu gpl v2 whichever is what the kernel source must be released under due to it being a fork of the Linux kernel, they have 30 days from the release of the phone. Pretty sure that's the law as far as gnu gpl v2 is concerned!
Might be coming real soon. They've just released codes for 6 more devices. That makes it at least 21 codes these past few days.
