I rooted my wife's phone to gain phone storage space using Link2sd. Since that is all I wanted to do and my wife is not interested in installing more apps (she mostly uses facebook), is it necessary to continue the instructions (adding recovery and roms)? Is there more risk to the phone if I just leave it as is - rooted only?

You can keep stock rom on it....though that's like having a v8 and choosing to only use 4 cylinders!!!

and as sellers said install a custom recovery and make a nandroid backup.. its your failsafe if anything goes wrong. i recommend cannibal recovery.

Canibal recovery has problems installing some zip files. Not 100% working. I would suggest the touch screen recovery listed in the All Things Root Guide sticky ^ or the Xionia v1.2518.6
