Root How to build From Ics source Admire R720 : UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Yeah, double post, etc, but I found the latest CM9 device profile I was working on in my BitBucket, here: https://bitbucket.org/requisite0/admire-old-cm9/src/314f9056e53e

That has the latest Adreno drivers, and should compile and run, but the graphics are ****ed. When I have hardware to test on, I'll get back to working on it.

Also, this may have changed recently, but last I checked, CodeAurora didn't support ARMv6 CPUs for ICS.

that was the ics based off the chipset in our device itself.

Heh, not trying to call you out, but they only support the msm7627a, which is the ARMv7-A variant. We're running the msm7627t (turbo), which is factory oc'd to 800MHz, and ARMv6.

Yeah, I know what pdadb and other places say, but try running ANY armv7 code, even compile CM7 for ARMv7 and run it. Doesn't work. Different CPUs. Sorry bro.

np i just based the guid off what i found based off what i could find about the device. Well it does explain why i had such major issues trying to build it from there source and said **** it . No worries ill update the op later on. Going to flash test this cm9 build see if it works. or softbricks.

Use my device profile I posted above. It boots. Or, it did two or so months ago. Been awhile since ****ing with CM, and I know the git updates like a monster.

So we could be facing an alpha build?

if i decide to release it it would be an early alpha. meaning shit might not work at all or very slow or random fc's ...

but for now im going to rest building for 3 devices in 1 night and trouble shooting build issues gives u a massive headache.

Thanks req0

SO like im sorta confused about this whole thread...are you building ics or starting a group to work on it...and if you are building it...how far along are you in your development....:)

the whole idea was to build it and give u the guide so YOU COULD build it yourself tweak it yourself and be self empowered to do it your self.

that way if you could read direcitons u could build it and do your own roms..

so a little of both i guess in a sence...

not 100 percent sure how to explain that one to you.

Oh okay then...so like whenever you finish are you gonna release yours or leave it to the other devs to build their own

hey rav i got a question. could i repatition some of my HDD for Ubuntu? Also after dev working would it be possible to format the patitioned Ubuntu space and merge it back to the HDD? Also is there other ways besides usb and disk drives to have Ubuntu bootable to use?

its possable You would have to use a live gparted cd then after you would need your win 7 disk to fix the mbr after grub overwrote the bootloader. Or you could install ubuntu inside windows and run it like that.

idk i use linux exclusivly so ask someone with a dual boot enviorment

gotcha and thanks

Rav,
Thanks for posting this guide. I have always been interested in development for the Android system but never had the time, especially after my wife had twins a few months ago. These days I have very little time to sit down on my own and learn how to do it.

Also, I am glad to see, after FINALLY reading this thread, that CM9/ICS is finally getting closer to being a reality. Req0s CM7 was ok and all but I heard it was a port from a different phone so it seems like all the bugs are probably unfixable without rebuilding from scratch.

If you get to a point where you would like someone to try out your build, I am always down to try out test roms, I am a tried and true flashaholic :)

Windows has a nice disk utility that allows you to shrink your partition to do just what you're wanting to do. ;)
