LOOONGTime lurker...first time poster... (Man...have I really read, like, 13,000 posts on a PHONE?!) and I just wanted to add to the post count without really saying much...

I just wanted to say thanks. I mean, a month ago, I didn't even know I wanted this phone...and in looking up news on the Nexus One, found the leaked pics, which led me here.

I often do obsessive research on phones before I get them, but for some reason this one grabbed me more than any other. Was it the specs? The mystery? Or did I get rolled up into the rollercoaster ride that this forum has produced?

Maybe a bit of all three...but I know that it's been a blast reading it. Yeah, there have been bumps in the road, but in general, it's been cordial, funny, and has helped me focus on something else, while dealing with a particularly difficult time in my life. So thank you all for that. I'm not a big sports guy, but this is probably the closest I have come to understanding how people get wrapped up in their teams, and in big news about their team.

I have been with Verizon since they were Bell Atlantic Mobile...and have been an LG guy since 2004 (C'mon LG...No U.S. Androids!??!) but this is my next phone...no matter how long I have to wait. Verizon has stepped it up between the new Palms (Wish the hardware was better, webOS is amazing) and their new android offerings, so no matter the wait...I'm excited about the future.

Thanks to all those that leaked images (Be it real or photoshopped) and news and kept us fed with info...and thanks to everyone for helping me feel like, even though I'm obsessed over a phone...at least I have company.

Wow...sorry about the bio...I just wanted to say Hi...and is anyone else annoyed that whenever they now Google "HTC Incredible" they get news about the "Incredible" new EVO phone?

hmm...
I just sent this email to him. Twice:

"Faithful Verizon customer here (orig contract 2000, month to month currently), I just wanted to pass along my observations:

1. Verizon does have the best network. eg. coverage / customer service.

2. Verizon lags behind competitors in smart phone hardware.

For the past couple of years its been painful to see the iPhone as an AT&T exclusive phone. Now at CTIA, Sprint releases the HTC EVO 4G and this is closest thing to a true iPhone killer. With all the rumors of the HTC Incredible and no announcements of a high end smart phone for Verizon, I fear of customers leaving Verizon to go where the hardware is. I'm inclined to join them if Verizon doesn't get with the high end smart phone program. And yes, the Droid is an amazing phone, but with a slide out keyboard that is more or less useless due to the tightly laid out keys and inability to reach the top row of keys, it makes it more of a detractor than a benefit. I don't want a sliding keyboard that can break if I can't use it.

Thanks for your time. Please announce / mention the HTC Incredible soon!"

But as soon as I clicked "send" the page closed. I'm wondering if its supposed to do that, or if what. Here's hoping it actually makes it further than his spam folder!

Keeping fingers crossed for something today!

Yeah, the send page closed as soon as I sent it too. Maybe that's just the way it works.

I would definitely rank that in the top 5 best first posts I've ever read. Glad to have you and welcome!

Random Android question...say I'm surfing the net on my new HTC Incredible next week ;) and I come across a page I want to print. Is there any print to PDF or print through wifi on these phones?

By the way, thanks for putting up with all the source bashing NKT, Anonimac, and Montana Man...we wouldn't have half this stuff without you! I'm still trusting NKT that this will actually be released for sale in mid-April.

Take a look at this link.

How to print files from your Android phone | Android Atlas - CNET Blogs

I think their are other solutions too.

They can see the route a call takes and if it eventually switches over to POTS.

Problem with this is when you have a database set up for your number blocks say 123 and 90 percent of these blocks are on pots lines and you take 10% of these (000) 123-xxxx numbers and port them to cells who actually updates the database that says you get charged numbers because when bills come through they all show up as land lines!

I hope that the Incredible gets announced today, along with most of you I'm sure, but I don't think we'll see the same fervor on this thread today that we saw here yesterday. I think everyone is just emotionally drained from watching yet another awesome device go somewhere besides Verizon.

I take it all with a grain of salt. I can understand the frustration, but some need to step back and take a breath.

And I want everyone to know that I have no knowledge of a release date. My prediction of a mid-April release is strictly an educated guess based off the info at hand and prior launches.

just to follow up - i asked my buddy who last night said it will def be shown today about a release date and he said there wasn't an official date as far as he knows. I'm guessing we should lean towards NKT's mid-april and not get too greedy and expect a release in next couple days.

Anybody know what the CTIA schedule is? I mean, I can look on the website, but nothing stands out. Any type of event today or tomorrow that stands out as a possible release type event?

The EVO seems to be a great device, but unless I am in a huge metro area that is going to have 4G, I just really can't get too excited about a phone on a network that still can't figure out 3G in a lot of areas.

Please take this for what it is, but I just bought a Motorola Droid on Thursday, and as I was walking out of the VZW store, the salesman that had been taking care of me pulled me aside and said "I'm not supposed to tell you this but don't forget we have a 30 day return policy. You might want to take advantage of that when our new phone comes out in 5 days."

He could've been talking about the new Motorola that runs on Android 1.6 (bleh), or any other phone, but his comments are the reason why I've been lurking in this forum for the last 2 days (never been here before yesterday).

I'm just praying this phone, or something similar comes out before my 30 days is up....

I'm bemused by the angst in this thread. Verizon never promised anyone anything about the release of this phone. It really doesn't matter to me if it gets announced today, tomorrow, or next month.

I'm so ready to upgrade my phone (check the sidebar), but nothing currently available from Verizon appeals to me enough to upgrade just yet. I'm not on contract anymore but I really want to stay with Verizon. No, I haven't used all 4 services, but I've got these things called friends. They are all with different services. I've asked them how they like their service and generally it goes (happiest to least happy) Verizon >> Sprint >>>> ATT >>>>>>>>>>>>>> TMo. I'm also very excited about the NFL deal that Verizon just signed. Live NFL games on my phone? That gets me more excited than anything I saw yesterday.

Now the EVO looks like it'll be a great device. Were it commercially available, I'd consider it, but it's not. It's not a finished product. Now when it comes out, I'll look at it again, along with whatever else Verizon has on the market at that time.

At this point, I am taking everything with a grain of salt. There is nothing official at this point unless it has come from Verizon or HTC. There is a possibility that we are just being strung along by "sources" having a good time at our expense. At this point I'm going with the attitude, "pics or it didn't happen". Thanks to everyone who posted pics. Switching to Sprint seems like a great option right now. Verizon would never allow the Incredible to act as a hotspot out of the box.

So far Sprint's HTC Evo phone looks pretty awesome. I love the idea it will have video calling abilities and it will work on 4G and 3G networks. I sure hope that the Incredible can match at least the video calling feature with a front facing camera.

Just for comparison. Here are the announcements from CITA 2009

CTIA 2009

Lots of announcements all the way through the last day. So I think there is still a good chance for our announcement.

Will definitely take it for what it is, but I'd say if he was a good salesperson he would realize that by buying a Droid, you're not in the target audience for the Devour - but rather something higher end.
