Please take this for what it is, but I just bought a Motorola Droid on Thursday, and as I was walking out of the VZW store, the salesman that had been taking care of me pulled me aside and said "I'm not supposed to tell you this but don't forget we have a 30 day return policy. You might want to take advantage of that when our new phone comes out in 5 days."
He could've been talking about the new Motorola that runs on Android 1.6 (bleh), or any other phone, but his comments are the reason why I've been lurking in this forum for the last 2 days (never been here before yesterday).

when i bought my droid 2 weeks ago, the only new phone they whispered about was the Devour. i was like, "no crap .. i've already seen that phone in person at best buy! tell me something i don't know".
the verizon sales people i dealt with for the last couple weeks don't know anything ... or are real good at keeping a secret.
so far, love my droid. but i'm keeping a close watch on my 30 day count .. and this thread.![]()
How about the HTC Sike! Or maybe the HTC Rumor.
I believe 2pm Eastern based on the 11am Pac time the Exhibit Floor opens.

So I guess there are 2 schools of thought here, unless the whole announcement thing is dictated by HTC:
- Verizon waits until day 2 to announce because it doesn't want the Incredible to be overshadowed by Sprint/EVO
- If Verizon is going to announce the Incredible at CTIA, it would be done on day 1 to get maximum publicity and/or to steal Sprint's thunder
For our sake, I hope it's the former.
Hi guys, not trying to be a downer or a troll, but there is little reason for VZW to announce the Incredible today. The Supersonic was announced yesterday and has been annointed "king" of the Android phones by the press, even though we don't know about battery life and any bugs that it might have. This was the first "4G" phone and it looks to be very nice. Average Joe consumer (people who aren't refreshing this site every 2 minutes) don't even know or care about the Incredible. All they know is that Sprint will be introducing a fast smartphone with a big screen and a bunch of other features. If VZW announces the Incredible today, every blog will do a direct comparison to the Evo and the Incredible will come up short due to the screen and the 4G network. It doesn't matter that the specs of the Incredible might be better in some aspects (AMOLED, more memory) all the general public will care about is the large screen and the faster network (even though Sprint's coverage is lacking when compared to VZW). VZW doesn't want to be in a situation where suddenly they've introduced a phone with really no new features as it will be seen as more of the same even though we know better.

Yes, this makes perfect sense.
They should just pack up the booths except for Sprint and cancel the rest of the show...

The 3rd school of thought of course being they dont announce at CTIA. My hopes were dashed a bit when i heard the second No Peek window was revealed as an EVO.
My only hope now is that the floor opens with 1 or 2 more No Peeking windows. I agree that it's smart for Verizon to wait for day 2 as to not be overshadowed and may have been playing it by ear, but i also think it's sort of a stretch and we may be setting ourselves up for disappointment.
Either way, the phone DOES exist and regardless of whether or not it's confirmed or announced today by Verizon we will be getting it at the same time...when? who knows, but it sure would be nice to at least know a date...
again, can someone PM me if they can offer to text me today if the Incredible does get announced?
thanks

That will happen even if it is released 1 month from now. So should they not release it at all?

Hope I'm wrong, but I'm betting I'm not. Perception is a lot in business and politics and there's been no official announcement of the Incredible so they have nothing to loose by not announcing it at CTIA and doing it later.

But tech sites everywhere and I mean everywhere will be comparing it to the evo...If they announce it at an event like they announced the Droid and Droid Eris, then they control the message for the day and have all the attention on only them.
So, basically what you're saying is that now that the EVO has been released, phones such as the Desire have no appeal? Because, from where I'm looking, I would LOVE to have the Desire on the Verizon network, and we know that the Incredible will be better spec'd than even the Desire. So...I think you're going a little too far with your theory here.

everyone needs to stop thinking they are going to announce something today, they are not. If you keep thinking something will be announced you'll keep being disappointed -- over and over again.
I feel like one day the phone will just pop up at Verizon stores with not a heck of a lot of marketing geared towards it.
If we use common sense (rather than wishful thinking) - we'd know something by now if there was something to know!
Personally, if my Verizon had a box from HTC, i'd go there and convince them to open the damn box to find out what's in it! Offer the guy $50 bucks to do it...he will!
I feel like the Incredible will be nothing more than the Eris replacement in a few months.
You're theory is great troll, except for one incrediblely large sized hole. And that is, that Verizon HAS to announce this phone at some point. And they cant avoid being compared to the Evo, the iPhone or any other phone, so the longer they wait the worse they look for releasing a phone with "no new features".
