Help Need to backup a borrowed tablet, reset/restore it under my name

Hello

I borrowed my friend's tablet to try out (a Samsung Galaxy Tab SPH-P100 android 2. 2). That was a few months ago. Now he says I can have it, (permanent loan). I can even reset it and register it so it will have my contacts and I can install the apps I bought on my phone.

Of course I've installed a few apps while I've been using it, and I'd like to save the data and settings before I reset it and restore them after the reset. Is it possible?

Can I backup my apps, reset the tab, register it under my gmail account, reinstall the apps, then restore the data and settings from the apps?

Or...

Can I do it manually by backing up files from the tablet to my computer? Are the app data and settings conveniently stored in a folder I can copy? That would be too easy.

Do I really have to start from scratch and customize everything again?

Thanks in advance

(can't complain I'm using a free tablet)

Hey, I moved this to the Samsung Galaxy Tab forum. Thanks for understanding. :)

PS, Welcome to Android forums!

You can move my thread anywhere you want, I'm not offended in the least.

Since my question was about backup apps and Android 2.2 and wasn't related to the tablet itself I thought it should go in the Lounge. Thanks for re-locating it.

eek :)
