[Verizon] What is all this stuff about JB?

JB? Justin Bieber? Oh, Jelly bean. I have been out of the loop for a few weeks or something. But I never received this OTA for Jelly bean. I'm running AOKP B40 and I'm really lost because I don't even know what this new update is, how to get it, and what the new bootloader is I see flying around! Could somebody please enlighten me on this new finding? :D

If you are running AOKP then you won't receive any OTA updates. This includes the JB update. In order to get JB you will have to wait until AOKP has a stable JB ROM or flash one of the others that are out at the moment.

Also the OTA for the VZW GNex hasn't gone out yet. (BIG SURPRISE!) But yeah, check out one of the links Outatime posted. The first two are really stable (Jelly Belly from experience, Xenon from word of mouth).

Thanks for all the help guys. So in short; flash a different ROM, say liquid smooth - then I'll be able to receive the OTA. From there update to 4.1/4.1.1 and flash one of these new awesome ROMs listed? Sounds fair and simple to me.

If only it were that simple. If you're rooted (which you are) then you can no longer receive OTA updates. If you want JellyBean then you'll have to flash a JB rom over AOKP because by the time Verizon releases JB, you'll probably have a new phone anyway :-$

Ouch, typical Verizon! So really just flash a JB rom as if it were ... another rom? :P

Pretty much, I flashed one of the original Jelly Belly builds direct from IMM76K, which is the stock 4.0.4 build. There is a Jelly Bean bootloader you will probably want to flash first, but otherwise, the same as any ROM.

Is the JB bootloader required? Or is it just better to have, regardless?

I'm on Bugless Beast without the JB bootloader. It doesn't seem like anyone has had issues without it so up to you. Couldn't hurt I guess. Just make sure you do a clean wipe before flashing your rom of choice :-)

I've never had an issue playing on a JB rom with the JB bootloader. Thanks for posting that BAMF rom I LOVED BAMF on my OG Droid! Might have to give this a whirl...
