Signal and other ?

Hi all, i'm currently debating between the Verizon version and a refurb Droid razr. my biggest concern with the nexus is the signal horror stories I've been hearing. With sprint and the area I live in I barely have great reception. I don't want to face a lot of dropped calls and no data with the nexus. I've also heard the camera is crappy as well as the speaker quality. Can any one with this device offer advice or dispel the rumors.

Thanks

Honestly, the signal issues only comes in if you are in a very marginal area anyways. One way calling seems to be geographic in severity, so depending where you live, it will either be the bane of your existance, or non-existant. I have no complaints with the camera really, only if you get carried away with the zero shutter lag do things get bad, and video quality is great IMO. Speaker quality is good, speaker volume is not so good. There are remedies however.

I agree and the speaker quality is the only issue I have. Listening to music is fine but using the speaker phone in a car is frustrating. Obviously a Bluetooth device or headphones eliminates that issue.

I would buy this phone again... I love it ;)

I never use speaker phone, so I guess that is how I missed that part of it... ;)

If you were are in an area without so-so reception, I would not get a Nexus. The radios are sub-par. My speaker is fine to stream music in my office - I don't need it loud. Only gripe on the speaker is that also extends to the phone ringing, so keep that in mind. I like the camera. It is probably not as good as some, but it is still the best camera I have had on a phone (every one gets a little better). It has produced very fine 4 x 6 pictures we've printed out and its ability to take very rapid pictures is great.

The radios are subpar. How much this really effects you..... I don't know. Will an update fix the problems...... again don't know.

Speaker is soft but I honestly feel it is similar to my Droid Incredible in this area.

Camera seems fine to me. I like the pictures it takes.

I like the phone a lot. If the update (not jellybean) fixes the radio..... I would recommend the Nexus without a long post like this. I love it.... and jellybean should make it even better (I am not rooted.... if you root, you will have that right away).

Thanks for replying!! I'll be receiving my nexus tomorrow. I hope I don't experience any issues
